Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Best Pokémon for 5-Star Raids

Choosing the right Pokémon is extremely essential when it comes to Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The necessity is even greater for 5-star and 6-star raids because of their enhanced difficulty.

Apart from the stats of the Pokémon, you’ll also need to keep an eye out for a couple of more factors in order to choose the perfect Pokémon for the raid battles.

So, are you interested to find out which Pokémon is the best for 5-star raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Best Pokémon for 5-Star Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

In order to win 5-star raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, only choosing a strong Pokémon won’t do the trick, unfortunately.

You’ll need to put in the grind and level it up quite a bit to for the creature to reach an adequate stage. The recommended level is 80 and above. Along with that, EV training the Pokémon efficiently is pretty important as well.

Pokemon Type and Level

On top of that, you can teach your Pokémon several moves using the TM items available in the game. The implementation of Held items and nature mints can also make your Pokémon all the more powerful.

So, basically, you’ll be setting up an entire build for your Pokémon and turn it into an absolute beast; it should be very useful if you decide to go Solo or pursue the raids with a team.

Either way, let’s take a look at the best Pokémon for 5-star raids and their builds.

Iron Hands

Iron Hands is one of the most powerful Pokémon to use in Tera raids because of its movesets and the additional moves that it can learn.

Iron Hands Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

For the EV training, you can put your focus on investing the 252 EV points on the offensive and defensive stats, rather than HP. I’ll explain the reason behind that in a bit.

Sp. Def and Atk are the best stats to max out, but you can opt for HP as well, if you want an added boost of security.

Make sure you reach at least level 84 for this Pokémon. At this level, Iron Hands learns one of the most broken moves in the game – the Belly Drum.

Using TM-73, teach Iron Hands the Drain Punch move. The Belly Drum and Drain Punch will be the key moves; make sure the other two moves have good power too.

Using Sitrus Berry as one of your held items will work well with Drain Punch to restore the HP that you will lose when you initiate the Belly Drum attacks.

Miraidon

The creature belonging to Pokémon Violet is next on my list of the best Pokémon that will not only take you to victory in 5-star raids, but also in the 6-star ones.

Miraidon Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Miraidon has impressive Electric-type moves, which will be key in the 5-star raids. The Electro Drift that’s unlocked at Level 56 is its strongest Electric move, in terms of Power and Accuracy.

You could combine the Parabolic Charge move with it, which will be mainly used for health restoration purposes.

The other two moves may be of different types to make Miraidon effective against a variety of enemies, like the Metal Sound and Dragon Pulse.

When it comes to EV training, focusing on the Sp. Atk should do you wonders. Max out your EV on the HP stat as well to help Miraidon stay alive for longer during battles.

Quiet Nature mint

Finally, the Modest or Quiet nature mint can be used to raise the levels of Miraidon’s offense even more!

Ceruledge

The Fire/Ghost type Pokémon, Ceruledge can be incredible with the right moves used and stats levelled up.

Ceruledge Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The Bitter Blade move of Ceruledge is a fire-type move with excellent accuracy and power. This should be the primary and main attack that you should boost to bring out the best of Ceruledge’s offensive features.

Using TM-61, you can teach the Pokémon the Shadow Claw move, which is mighty effective against Ghost types and has the same accuracy as Bitter Blade.

The held item you should opt for can be Metronome. Metronome raises the power of any move that you use repeatedly. This will allow you to spam the Bitter Blade and deal even more damage!

Optimal EV training

Make sure you EV train efficiently and invest them on the HP attribute of the Pokémon, since this Ceruledge build doesn’t have a health restoration aspect, unlike the previous two.

The other 252 EVs should be invested on the Atk stat to utilize the maximum potential of the Bitter Blade move.

Similar to Iron Hands, the Adamant nature suits Ceruledge really well too!

Gholdengo

Gholdengo is one of the newly-introduced Pokémon and has already caught attention for the 5-star raids.

Gholdengo Pokemon Scarlet and VIolet

A moveset consisting of Nasty Plot and Metal Sound can make Gholdengo very effective against Dark and Steel types. These mainly work by affecting the attributes of the Tera Pokémon and weakening them.

Using these moves thrice alternatively should help you take down almost any tera raid Pokémon.

The Modest nature mint can be the most useful in the case of Gholdengo, buffing Sp. Atk evne more and increasing the effectiveness of the moveset.

The HP stat must be maxed out for Gholdengo when you are EV training. This will enable the Pokémon to last longer and make those Nasty Plot and Metal Sound moves.

Without a doubt, the other stat to be maxed out is Gholdengo’s strongest one, Sp. Attack. This will make the Pokémon’s offensive attributes insanely strong and help take down 5-star Tera Pokémon easily.

Metal Coat in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Steel-type moves of Gholdengo can be buffed further by using the Metal Coat as the held item. But, that should depend on the type of the opponent Pokémon. If it’s a Ghost type, the Spell Tag item will work better than Metal Coat.

Iron Valiant

Iron Valiant definitely makes the list of the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For the same reason, it can also prove to be a great choice in 5-star raids.

Iron Valiant Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

It’s the damage levels for Iron Valiant, in both Attack and Sp. Attack attributes, that makes it so incredibly strong.

A combination of the Moonblast and Aura Sphere moves will definitely unlock the true offensive potential of the Pokémon. The Moonblast in unlocked when you reach Level 56, while the Aura Sphere needs to be taught using TM-112.

Adding to these two, you may choose any other two moves that complements the team, in case you’re playing in one. My suggestions would be to go for Leaf Blade and Energy Ball.

Similar to Gholdengo, HP isn’t Iron Valiant’s best stat. Therefore, you should focus an entirety of your EVs on maximizing the health bar. On the other hand, you could invest the EVs on Sp. Attack, if you’ll be using the Moonblast move.

Wise Glasses may just be the perfect item to add to this build, since the power of Sp. Attack moves are boosted thanks to this held item.

When it comes to choosing the nature mint, you can check out our detailed guide on what the best nature for Iron Valiant is.

We don’t focus on speed as much during Tera raids, though. So, in this case, Rash or Quiet nature would be top choices for this Pokémon.

Wrapping Up

5-star raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are pretty difficult to win. Without a proper Pokémon and strategy in place, you may not be able to achieve wins very easily.

The list of Pokémon mentioned above are the best ones in the game that can help you beat the 5-star raids with ease, whether you’re playing alone with NPCs or with an actual team of Pokémon trainers.

Once you start winning these 5-star raids for fun, you’ll unlock the 6-star and 7-star raids in no time! When you inevitably do, you can check out our guides on how to win these 6-star raids and the best Pokémon that will help you ace the battles!
