Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Defeat 7-Star Raids (Charizard Guide)

Charizard is the first 7-Star raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and it’s the only way of getting Charizard in the game.

It comes in the form of an event raid that lasted from December 1 until December 4 and will come back again on December 15 until December 18. Keep in mind that raids start and end at 4:00pm PST.

Since it will feature the dragon Tera type, it will have different weaknesses compared to the original Charizard.

In addition, it will be level 100, which makes it even harder to defeat.

In this guide, I will explain how to defeat 7-Star Charizard Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, showcase some of the best Pokemon to help you, and list all available rewards.

Charizard Type, Stats, and Moveset

Charizard will have different attributes compared to its original form. Specifically, Charizard will Terastralize into a Dragon-type Pokemon. Its ability will be Solar Power, which is a hidden ability that boosts Charizard’s Special Attack when there’s sunshine.

In addition, its nature will be Modest (+Special Attack, -Attack), which is the best nature for Charizard.

As for its moveset, Charizard will know four of the following attacks.

  • Dragon Pulse
  • Fire Blast
  • Hurricane
  • Focus Blast
  • Sunny Day
  • Tera Blast
  • Overheat
  • Inferno

Lastly, keep in mind that Charizard in this event will be level 100. Make sure to bring your strongest Pokemon for this raid.

Best Pokemon For Charizard Raids

Since Charizard is a Dragon-type Pokemon during this raid, your best bet is to bring any Fairy-type Pokemon.

For instance, one of the best Pokemon for 6-star raids is Azumarill, and it’s ideal for Charizard Raids too.

It is exceptionally strong, packs the required Fairy type, and also has the Water type which makes it resistant to Charizard’s Fire attacks.

If you can manage to get the egg move Belly Drum on Azumaril and have the Huge Power ability, it can pretty much destroy Charizard with ease.

Also, Charizard doesn’t have the move Solar Beam, which would be Azumarill’s only weakness.

Of course, in case you don’t have an Azumarill ready to go, any Fairy-type Pokemon will work, such as Sylveon.

Charizard Raid Rewards

When clearing the raid for the first time, the best reward is that you will be able to catch this Charizard. However, you can only catch it once, regardless of how many times you complete the raid.

Nevertheless, many other solid rewards can be gained, which makes completing the raid multiple times a great idea.

For the first clear, players are also guaranteed to get an ability patch, and the TM Overheat. Other than that, here’s everything that can be gained by completing the raid multiple times.

  • Exp. Candy L
  • Exp. Candy XL
  • Calcium
  • Tera Shard Dragon
  • Ability Patch
  • Rare Candy
  • Overheat
  • Modest Mint
  • Ability Capsule
  • Nugget
  • Bottle Cap
  • PP Up
  • Star Piece
  • Comet Shard

Conclusion

To sum up, that’s everything you need to know on how to defeat the 7-Star Charizard Raid when it comes back in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Since we’ve got a few days until then, now is a great time to start preparing your Azumaril.

After all, the rewards showcased are definitely worth the effort, so make sure not to miss it.

If Charizard was available in the game normally, regardless of the event, it would be on our list of the top 10 strongest Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.
