Play Google Block Breaker Free (Atari Breakout)

Google is bringing some real Block Breaker action to life in 2025, a game based on the Atari Breakout Easter Egg that they launched in 2013, which allowed you to play a simple breakout game with the Google Image Results.

This time, the Google Block Breaker is a free game that appears to be here to stay (similar to the Dinosaur game that you can play when your internet is down) and I will tell you everything about it – how to play it, a few tips and tricks & more.

How to Play Google Block Breaker for Free

You can play the game for free, directly in your browser (it doesn’t even have to be Chrome!), with no downloads required. Here is what to do to access the game:

1. Open Google.com and click on the search bar.

2. Search for “Block Breaker” and press Enter.

3. In the results screen, click the blue “Play” button under the game and enjoy the nostalgic trip!

In this game, your goal is to destroy all blocks by hitting the flying ball(s) with your paddle, all while collecting power-ups like extra lives, multi balls and activating TNT blocks.

You can play Google’s Block Breaker with or without sound, you can play it in full-screen mode if you want to (simply click the square in the upper right corner), and it will remember your high score, adding a bit of a challenge to the mix.

Google Block Breaker Daily Challenge

Block Breaker Daily Challenge

You have reasons to return to the game each day – to play its daily challenge. To access it, click the “Daily challenge” button instead of the “Play” button in the search results.

It gives various challenges, like balls that float in different ways, different power-ups and so on. We can call it the advanced version of the main game.

The daily challenge can be played multiple times, if you want to get farther or score higher.

From Atari Breakout to Block Breaker on Google

Google is well known for releasing various easter eggs and surprises for those who do a lot of digging, and Block Breaker is just one of them.

As mentioned in the intro, something similar was launched back in 2013, when searching on Google Images for “Atari Breakout” would transform the images in the search results in a basic breakout game you could play for free.

However, access was limited back then and the newly released Block Breaker on Google not only seems to be here to stay, but can also be played without the limitations of the previous Easter Egg.

This new version adds multiple levels, improved graphics, better controls, and the ability to record your high score, in case you ever get bored and want to beat it once more.

Tips to score more points

While the game is pretty much skill-based and the things you have to do are obvious, here are a few tips and tricks that might help you get better at it:

1. When juggling multiple balls, try to stay focused on one. It doesn’t have to be the original, white ball, but you need at least one in play to keep going.

2. Control the direction of the ball you hit by letting it hit the center or sides of your paddle. Make it move faster or at a narrower angle by moving quickly (swiping) under it when it hits.

3. Try to get a ball in an opening or at the top of the brick wall – this way, it will destroy plenty of blocks without you having to do much.

4. Learn the power-ups: some are good (like the cross signs and extra balls), but others give you penalties – like the different color ones that float slower towards the bottom of the screen.

And this would be it! Head over to Google.com and play some Block Breaker right away – and let us all know about your high score in the comments down below!
