Octopath Traveler 2: How to Unlock Armsmaster

The Armsmaster is a secret secondary job and class in Octopath Traveler 2 and it’s an ideal option for physical DPS characters such as Ochette and Hikari.

For more details on Ochette, consider checking out my in-depth character guide on Ochette and the best party for her.

To unlock the Armsmaster, players will need to travel to Gravell in the Wildlands, meet the Blacksmith there, and collect Rusty Weapons.

In this Octopath Traveler 2 guide, I will explain how to unlock the Armsmaster secondary job and showcase the best characters for this job.

How to Unlock the Armsmaster Secondary Job in Octopath Traveler 2

The first step to unlocking the Armsmaster secondary job is reaching the town of Gravell in the Wildlands, which is in the middle and North side of the map.

Keep in mind that Gravell and its surrounding areas are late-game locations, with a recommended level of 45.

Since there is no way to change the difficulty of the game, make sure your characters are at least level 45 before moving there.

From there, locate the Blacksmith building and interact with the person blocking the door by using one of the following path actions:

  • Hikari – Challenge
  • Throne – Ambush
Use Path Actions to knock out the Debt Collector and talk to the Blacksmith in Gravell.

Either of these will defeat the person and allow you to enter the building. There, you’ll meet Porta, the Blacksmith who will task you with finding all Rusty Weapons.

Thankfully, you can unlock the Armsmaster secondary job after bringing her only one Rusty Weapon.

The easiest one to get is the Rusty Sword. To get the Rusty Sword, travel to Orerush in the Wildlands, visit the Weapon Shop, and use any path actions you have to buy the Sturdy Pickaxe at the price of 5,500 Leaves.

Then, travel to Winterbloom and find a woman sitting next to a sword blocked in the ground. Interact with her and she’ll give you the Rusty Sword.

Keep in mind that to unlock additional Armsmaster Licenses, you’ll need to bring all Rusty Weapons in the game to the Blacksmith.

Armsmaster Job Guide

The Armsmaster secondary job shines due to being able to equip all types of weapons. This makes it an ideal choice for physical attackers in your party and allows you to cover more enemy weaknesses.

Additionally, its Divine Skill ‘Sixfold Strike’, hits foes with six different weapons. This makes it extremely easy to identify the enemies’ weak spots.

In general, you want to pair Armsmaster with a physical DPS character that needs more weapon variety.
