Similar to Octopuff Travelers, Caits are hard to find, have high dodge rates, and will escape if not killed quickly.

They are cat-like enemies that appear in battle. Simply hover over their name and you’ll see them named “Cait”.

They can be found anywhere but their low spawn chance makes farming them tricky.

There are two tips to increase your chances of finding Caits in the game:

  • More Rare Monsters Support Skill – This skill can be gained by Hunters after unlocking six skills (1,630 total JP cost). This skill increases the chances of encountering rare monsters, including Caits. However, using it on multiple characters won’t work as this skill doesn’t stack.
  • Bewildering Grace Skill – Last Job Skill learned by Dancers. It causes a curious effect on an enemy. When used with max BP, there’s a chance to transform the targeted enemy into a Cait.

But why should you care about farming Caits?

While tricky to find and defeat, Caits are well worth the extra effort. This is because defeating them offers two benefits.

  1. Loot – Defeating a Cait awards 3,000 Leaves, 1,000 EXP, and 150 JP. Overall, this is significantly more than what common enemies offer.
  2. Chance to Capture – When defeated, Ochette has a 25% chance of capturing them. Also, she can attempt to capture the Cait before fully defeating it but this increases the risk of having it escape.

The EXP provided by farming Caits is exceptionally high, which is what makes farming Caits one of the best methods to level up fast in Octopath Traveler 2.

As for capturing it, the Cait will then allow Ochette to use the following skill:

  • Deluxe Luck of the Cait – Chance to replenish every party member’s health, provide buffs, and restore SP after every action.

This is one of the strongest beast effects in the game, so capturing a Cait is worth the effort.

Now that you’ve found Caits and know what they’re worth, let’s see how to defeat them.

To defeat Caits in Octopath Traveler 2, players will have to utilize various tips. Here are all of them:

  1. Use Ochette’s Take Aim Skill – Raises Critical Rare and Accuracy of all party members for two turns. Since Caits have high evasion, using this skill will increase your chances of hitting them.
  2. Equip Unerring Earing – Increases accuracy of the equipped character by 10 and players can equip two per character. This can be bought at the New Delsta Weapon shop.
  3. Know its weaknesses – The Cait is weak to swords, daggers, axes, and staves.
  4. Use Soulstones – This item deals high damage and can’t miss, so it’s a great way to take down Caits.
  5. Use Partitio’s Hired Help Skill – Boost the skill with max BP and make sure to hire someone with 7,000 leaves to maximize your chances of hitting.

With these tips, you’ll be able to take down any Cait you find.
