Melvor Idle: Best Way to Make Money Early

Wondering how to make money fast in Melvor Idle, especially immediately after starting the game? I am here to share with you an updated guide on how to make money in the game.

To make money fast in Melvor Idle, you will need to focus on mining for precious gems, idling Agility training for maximum coin gains and either fighting enemies or fishing.

While this is indeed the basic route you will have to follow, it’s worth getting a bit more in depth. So without further ado, let’s talk money in Melvor Idle!

Melvor Idle: How to Make Money Fast

First of all, you should know that “fast” is a relative term. Being an idle game, Melvor Idle is pretty slow paced – especially early on in the game.

But there are tricks to do it faster than others, so let’s come up with a plan!

Start by focusing on Mining with Gem Gloves

Mining is one of the top things you should do early on in the game, as I have already shared in my Melvor Idle tips and tricks article.

When mining, there’s a chance of a valuable gem to drop – and those can be sold for a nice chunk of money. Plus, the ore that you mine itself can be sold (or even better, turned into bars and equipment and then sold).

You can make mining even better by following these steps:

  • keep an eye on the shop and buy pickaxe upgrades for faster mining and increased chances for getting double ores when mining
  • always mine the most advanced ore you have unlocked (unless you need ores for something else)
  • As soon as you have 500k coins (usually after your first day of playing), but the Gem Gloves and equip them. A pair has 2,000 charges and guarantees one gem per mining action

IMPORTANT: when mining, make sure that you have plenty of room in your inventory, or sell gems often. Otherwise, mining will stop. This is why it’s best NOT to idle mine early on in the game.

Idle overnight doing Agility runs

While mining is great while you are actively playing, when you go idle for many hours (over night, for example), I prefer to do Agility runs.

Not only that these give you all sorts of bonuses (depending on how you build your course), but the monetary gains are also really nice early on.

So build as many obstacles as you can in your Agility course and start the run. Focus on the upgrades that give you the most coins – these are the most important early on and can be changed afterwards.

For at least the first few days, I’m always doing Agility runs when going idle.

Fishing your way to more money

After the first couple of days, I recommend switching your main attention from mining to fishing. This is extremely important, because fishing will give you food which is needed for combat.

So we HAVE to fish, which is also a good way to make extra money because you will generally fish some sort of junk items in the process, which can be sold for decent amounts of money.

Early on, focus on fishing the shrimp, the cook a few thousand of these little fellas. Sell all the perfect/star shrimps that you have (extra money) and equip the rest.

You will need around 2k shrimp to consider yourself safe and ready to take on another extremely profitable activity, which is fighting.

Finally… idle combat ftw!

Melvor Idle Combat for Coins

Combat in Melvor Idle is pretty difficult and risky until you have unlocked Auto Eat. Once you have this, you can easily do more idle combat – although it’s still risky to do it overnight early on.

Not only because you risk getting your character defeated if you run out of food (and you won’t continue fighting, so wasted time), but there’s also a 100 item loot limit – and you reach that number pretty fast.

So until you unlock the Amulet of Looting (which is an early mid-game item), it’s best to do combat during the day, when you can constantly collect the loot and make sure you still have food for idle combat.

When choosing your opponent, always go for the one that rewards you the most gold coins, but consider how easy it is to defeat them.

For example, the Master Farmer is much better than the Adult Farmer, but also more challenging. Defeating him takes more time and consumes more resources. Therefore, it’s better to focus on the Adult Farmer instead.

Actually, in the very early stages, I prefer to focus on fighting Cows for a while (because they drop leather, from which you can craft various items and sell them for a nice price – especially after unlocking Dragonhide crafting).

After a while, switch to fighting the farmers (they drop seeds, which can be farmed and harvested, then sold for a profit), then the knights in the castle, as they drop solid gear and lots of coins.

TIP: When fighting, try to equip as many Goblin Thief familiars (from summoning) in order to get +30 coins for each hit on any enemy.

And since we’ve talked about farming in the game, you can read the previous guide on the best way to get seeds in Melvor Idle.

Wrapping up

These would be the steps that you should follow early on to make a ton of money in Melvor Idle. Mining, agility (over night), farming and then fighting is the way to go.
