Are you looking to get your hands on some Black Diamonds in LotR Return to Moria? Here’s everything you need to know about them.
Overall, the best way to get Black Diamonds is by opening Orkish Chests. However, you also have a low chance of getting some while killing Orcs and Goblins and while mining Precious Stones in the Lower Deeps.
This guide will go through everything you need to know about Black Diamonds, including how to access the Orc Town and where to use them afterward.
If you haven’t unlocked the Lower Deeps yet, make sure to first check our guide on how to rebuild the mine hoist in Return to Moria.
How to Find Black Diamonds in LotR Return to Moria

There are various ways to find Black Diamonds in LotR Return to Moria and here are all of them:
- Killing Orcs and Goblins: While killing any Orc or Goblin enemies, there’s a small chance to get a Black Diamond.
- Mining Precious Stones: While mining Precious Stones in the Lower Deeps, you have a small chance of getting Black Diamonds.
- Looting Orkish Chests: All Orc Camps in Orc Town will have an Orkish Chest in the middle. You can find its key by destroying a wooden totem next to it or you can simply destroy the chest with a Steel Pickaxe. This chest will almost always have Black Diamonds.
Overall, the best method to get Black Diamonds is by looting Orkish Chests as there’s a very high chance that they’ll have what you’re looking for. However, these are only located in the Orc Town. Let’s see how to get there.
How to Find the Orc Town in LotR Return to Moria
To find the Orc Town in LotR Return to Moria, follow the main story until you get the quest to start looking for a fragment of Durin’s Axe.
This will allow you to find the Orc Town and start consistently farming Black Diamonds and other late-game materials.
Unfortunately, I cannot share the exact location of this area since each map is randomly generated.
Where to Use Black Diamonds
Now that you’ve managed to get your hands on some Black Diamonds, you’ll be happy to hear that they’re extremely important and useful.
You can use Black Diamonds to repair Ruined Map Stones and to create new Map Stones.
However, more importantly, you’ll need about 20 Black Diamonds to progress through certain parts of the main story, so make sure to spend them carefully and always save some for the main questline.
Wrapping up
To summarize, you can get Black Diamonds in Return to Moria by opening Orkish Chests, killing Orcs and Goblins, and mining Precious Stones in the Lower Deeps.
The most efficient method is the first, but it also is extremely risky since it requires you to explore the Orc Town after progressing enough in the story.
