Lightyear Frontier offers a fun and relaxing exploration/crafting experience as you navigate its vast and colorful world. However, the game includes a lot of details that are easy to miss.
If you want to make the most out of your playthrough and not worry about missing anything, here are the best tips and tricks in Lightyear Frontier.
Sleep to Complete Crafting Faster

If you’re crafting something on your furnace or cooking food, sleeping will auto-complete the process once you wake up.
Thus, before going to sleep, always fill your crafting stations so that you can have everything ready when you wake up, without having to wait 10+ minutes. To make the most out of this, consider also crafting multiple furnaces.
Prioritize Mech Upgrades
There are various ways to progress in the game but the most important one early on is Mech Upgrades.
These will allow you to progress faster by making most of your mech’s functions more effective and efficient.
Get the Vintage Windshield Early
Another key upgrade to get ASAP is the Vintage Windshield. This is an upgrade for your mech that will make your POV clearer by removing the bars in the middle.
To get it, craft and place the Upgrade Station building and you’ll see it there, alongside various other key upgrades.
Make Multiple Copies of Important Crafting Stations
While you’ll start with one furnace and grinder, it can be helpful to craft multiple of these. Especially for Furnaces, I’ve got three to ensure I always have a solid stockpile of processed materials.
After all, they are fairly cheap to make and don’t take much space in your base.
Exploration is Key
There are many things you can do in Lightyear Frontier, but one of the best ways to progress quickly is through exploration.
As you explore the map and restore new regions, you’ll gain access to new materials, crafting stations, and upgrades. For instance, each farming crop in Lightyear Frontier can be found in a different biome.

Build the Merchant Landing Early
The Merchant Landing is a helpful building you can craft early on that will allow you to access the merchant.
You can buy and sell to them various resources that can’t be found elsewhere, so it can be helpful to build early on.
Don’t Skip ‘Region Restored’ Cutscenes
When you fully restore a region, a cutscene will play showcasing the now-restored region. This cutscene shouldn’t be skipped as it takes you on a small tour around the region.
Within that 5-second tour, you’ll see all the new resources you can now find, as well as where to find them.
Upgrade Your House
Another feature you should focus on upgrading early on is your house. Based on the type of house you have, you’ll get various coziness bonuses.
The better your house, the higher the coziness buff. A high coziness buff will grant you more resources while exploring and allow your pet to gain extra materials as well.
To wrap up this list of tips and tricks in Lightyear Frontier, that’s everything you should know to ensure you have a smooth and fun early-game experience.
Also, keep in mind that the game focuses on offering a fun and relaxing experience; while you should prioritize the aforementioned upgrades, it’s also important to take it slow and explore things at a pace that is enjoyable for you.
