While exploring the house in the first part of the Painter’s story in Layers of Fear, players will come across a series of rooms that are all identical and have a broken window and the text “Going in Circles” written on the wall.
To solve this puzzle, keep moving through the rooms until you find a bottle just right from the entrance door. Then move to the next room and place the bottle next to the window.

How to Solve the Going in Circles Puzzle in Layers of Fear
In the first part of the Painter’s story, players will come across a puzzle with multiple identical rooms. They all have broken windows, similar furniture, and written text on the wall saying “Going in Circles” and “What Fuels My Passion?”
The puzzle is straightforward but can become tricky if you’re not observant. To solve the Going in Circles puzzle in Layers of Fear, players need to keep navigating the rooms until they find an empty bottle and place it next to the window in a different room.
Let’s see how to find the bottle and where to place it.
Where to Find the Bottle
The bottle will be located in the right corner of the room, on a small table with a candle next to it. The bottle you want is a mid-sized black bottle.
There is another white bottle on a different table and you can use that instead if you prefer.
Keep in mind that the bottle you use will affect the ending you’re getting at the end of the Painter’s story. In short, the black bottle will lead toward the Art Ending, while the white bottle will lead toward the Art Ending.

Either way, the bottle will be highlighted as an item that can be picked up, right when you enter the room.
The bottle can be found in the fourth identical room and it’s hard to miss.
Where to Place the Bottle
Now that you’ve picked up the bottle, simply move on to the next room. Right in front of the open window, there will be a small altar with four candles on the sides, two bottles in the middle, and one empty slot.
Place the bottle you picked up in that empty slot and the window will close.
Now, open the next door and you’ll continue the story of the game.
