How to Find a Way Through the Barricade in Hogwarts Legacy

While progressing the sidequest “In the Shadow of Time”, players will be called to solve a puzzle in a catacomb. This puzzle will require them to find a way through the barricade.

To complete this quest, players will need to use Accio or Wingardium Leviosa on three nearby skeleton piles and place them at the main door.

The “In the Shadow of Time” quest will have players exploring a catacomb with Sebastian Sallow to learn more about an ancient relic. Through this quest, players also have the chance of unlocking Imperio, the Unforgivable Curse, if they choose to learn it.

The quest will have the players progress through the catacombs by solving two main barricade puzzles. After that, they will have to choose whether to side with Sebastian or Ominis.

Let’s examine how to solve the two puzzles, and what to choose in the dialogue options at the end.

How to Find a Way Through the Barricade – Part 1

For the first puzzle, players will need to find three skeleton piles and transfer them to the puzzle door.

The first skeleton pile is located in the middle of the room. Use Wingardium Leviosa and bring it to the puzzle door.

The second skeleton pile is located at the edges of the main room, on the shelves that need to be opened with Accio.

The third skeleton pile is located behind the closed door, just right of the main puzzle door. Use Confringo or Depulso to open it, and then use Accio to open the shelves within it. One of the shelves will have the skeleton pile you need.

After finding all three piles, bring them all to the door and the first barricade will open.

How to Find a Way Through the Barricade – Part 2

After progressing through the quest and while within the same catacomb, players will have to find a way through a second barricade. Again, players need to locate three skeleton piles and bring them to the main door.

The first skeleton pile is located just on the right side of the door. It’s impossible to miss since it’s just sitting there.

However, the other two are a bit more tricky and require solving a puzzle. To solve the puzzle, players need to check the two symbols on each wall and use Accio on the levers corresponding to these symbols.

To open the door on the right, use Accio on the handle on the left (which corresponds to the upper symbol of the door), and then find the other handle that corresponds to the lower symbol.

There are three doors in total and to open each of them, players will need to use Accio on a combination of two symbols, as indicated on each of the doors.

Two of the three doors will contain skeleton piles, which will be the second and third piles you need to solve this puzzle.

Should You Side with Sebastian or Ominis in Shadow of Time?

During the final part of the quest, players can choose to either side with Sebastian or Ominis. In terms of story, this choice won’t affect anything other than getting to leave the catacomb sooner if you choose to side with Ominis.

However, there is one difference in terms of learning Imperio, the Unforgivable Curse. If players didn’t choose to learn Imperio during the first opportunity they got, they will have to side with Sebastian if they want another opportunity at learning Imperio.

And that’s all. In the end, as long as you’ve learned Imperio, it doesn’t matter whether you’ll side with Sebastian or Ominis.
