With 15 unique Emblems in Fire Emblem Engage, it can be challenging to find the best characters to pair them with.
While most Emblems are flexible and can be paired with almost anyone, there are some unique combos that allow characters to reach their full potential.
Additionally, while pairing character and emblem, make sure to also equip each character with their best class. This way, you’ll make your party exceptionally strong, which will allow you to challenge the game even on Maddening difficulty.
In this guide, I will list the five best pairings in Fire Emblem Engage showcasing the best emblem and character combos in the game.
1. Tiki & Louis
Tiki is one of the DLC Emblems in the game unlocked in Chapter 6 when her Divine Paralogue is completed. She offers stat boosts up to +10 HP, +4 Defense, and +10 Luck.
Additionally, her engage attack is Divine Blessing, which allows an ally to revive after dying and have full HP again. Due to that, she’s ideally paired with your tankier units, such as Louis or Goldmary.

2. Marth & Alear
Marth is available from the beginning of the game and increases the character’s Strength, Dexterity, and Speed.
Marth’s skills offer significant buffs to swordsman units and he is considered the best emblem for the early game for slaying bosses. Paired with Alear from the get-go offers a significant damage boost to your team and can help you get through the early stages of the game.
However, his usefulness slightly falls off during the mid and late stages of the game.
3. Roy & Framme
Roy is gained in Chapter 8, lost in Chapter 10, and regained in Chapter 19. He buffs the equipped unit’s HP, Strength, and Resistance.
While his engage attack and weapon are fairly weak, his main asset is the Sync skill Hold Out. If a unit has 30% or more HP when the combat starts, it will always survive with at least 1 HP.
This makes Roy an optimal choice for any support unit to ensure they won’t die easily and will have the chance to heal back up such as Framme.
In terms of the character, don’t forget to check out our guide on how to recruit Framme and the best way to use her.
4. Ike & Panette
Ike is unlocked in Chapter 13 and provides HP, Strength, and Defense. He grants extra Attack and Defense for axe users at the cost of reducing Avoidance.
This makes him ideal for Berserkers such as Panette since they already have high HP (so reducing Avoidance isn’t an issue) and gain the much-needed Defense and Attack buffs.
5. Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude & Vander
This emblem made of three characters is unlocked via DLC in Chapter 6. Their engage attack offers phenomenal damage and thus is great paired with any high-DPS character such as Vander.
Additionally, the Weapon Sync skill buffs the equipped character for +5 Attack if they have the same weapon as the synced emblem. Lastly, this emblem offers solid Strength and Dexterity buffs.
