In this CS2 case odds guide, we’ll go through all chances to get a Knife, Red, Pink, Purple, or Blue item when opening a case.
In short, there’s a 0.26% chance of opening a legendary item, which means that you will probably get a knife once every 400 cases. However, the chance is even lower if you want a Factory New or Statrack item.
Let’s through all the odds in turn.
Case Odds in Counter-Strike 2
Here are all the case odds in CS2:
- StatTrack Rare Special Item: 0.026% (1 in 4000)
- Rare Special Item (Knife/Gloves): 0.26% (1 in 400)
- Red Item: 0.64%
- Pink Item: 3.2%
- Purple Item: 15.98%
- Blue Item: 79.92%
As for condition, when dropping any item, you have the following chances for it to be in any condition:
- Factory New : 3%
- Minimal Wear: 25%
- Field-Tested: 33%
- Well-Worn: 24%
- Battle-Scarred: 16%
Overall, the rarest item you can get is a StatTrack Factory New Rare Special Item. But what are the chances of that? Let’s see:
- 0.026% (StatTrack Rare Special Item) x 3% (Factory New) = 0.00078% chance to get a StatTrack, Factory New Rare Special Item.
Of course, if you manage to get that, you’ll be practically rich, as the prices for such skins reach insanely high numbers.

Best Case to Open in CS2
Keep in mind that each case contains different items and each item is priced differently.
While prices change almost daily, the best case to open at the moment is the Kilowatt Case since it has the highest Return on Investment. Even its pink skins are fairly expensive.
This is expected to change when a new case gets released.
Nevertheless, if you just want to make money, I wouldn’t recommend opening cases at all as the chances are always against you. Unless you get really lucky, you most probably won’t even make a profit.
Wrapping up
To summarize this CS2 case odds guide, your chances of getting a legendary item from a crate are 0.26%.
Keep in mind that if you’re hoping to get a Factoory New skin or a StatTrack one (or even both) your chances become significantly lower.
