Are you interested in romancing Effie and Balgair, and playing as a female character in Changeling Tale? Here’s what you must know.
For the extremely short answer, you cannot romance Effie or Balgair, and you cannot play as a female character. However, some are planned for future updates, while others will be considered if there are enough community requests.

Can You Romance Effie in Changeling Tale?
Unfortunately, at the moment, you cannot romance Effie in Changeling Tale. The only current paths feature Marion, Jessie, and Grace, with Rowan being an upcoming free DLC path.
However, on the bright side, the developers have planned 2 DLCs with seven new romance options, one of which they’ve confirmed on a recent Steam discussion to be Effie.
Thus, you will have to wait a few months, but Effie will eventually be romanceable.
Can You Romance Balgair?
Currently, there is no way to romance Balgair in Changeling Tale. Additionally, there are no plans to add him as a romanceable character in the future.
However, the developers would be willing to add it if there’s enough demand. If you really want him added, feel free to let the devs know in Steam discussions or their official Discord server.
Can You Play as a Female Character in Changeling Tale?
At the moment, there is no way to play as a female character in Changeling Tale. However, the developers are planning to add it in a future update.
Similar to Balgair, if you want this to happen sooner, feel free to let the devs know. They are active and communicate on social media, so they’ll definitely read your request.
The same is true if you have a different request for a character. Feel free to pitch it and maybe the devs will add it!
