In this Minecraft Java Edition guide, I will go over how to get texture packs, and the steps required.

For those of you who are new to this side of Minecraft, I will show you a site where you can find new, exciting texture packs to use.

If you have your texture pack ready to go, here is a quick overview of how to do it, so you don’t have to search for the more in-depth steps later on.

  • Open Minecraft Java
  • Select Options and then select Resource Packs
  • Select Open Pack Folder
  • Drag the texture pack into the Minecraft resource pack
  • Move the texture pack over to the Select resource packs in Minecraft
  • You can now play Minecraft Java with your new texture pack

Mods, texture packs, and other types of maps are a very popular part of Minecraft’s lifespan.

The game by itself offers a neverending gameplay loop, but what of those players that want to try something different, or want their world to look different?

That is where the many different mods, and texture packs come into play. Most players will already know where to look, but what of those of us that are not quite sure where to look?

I will emphasize two sites, where players can go, and have a look at different things they can add to Minecraft.

The first site I want to mention is Planet Minecraft. You can look at the top of the page, next to the search bar, and you will see a Minecraft tab.

By hovering over it, you will see all the different categories. Pick the one you want, and then the page will load. Pick the Trending, New, or Updated option will narrow down your search.

The second site I want to mention is Curseforge. By either going to the drop-down menu or through the search bar you will have a large variety of options to look through and find something you like.

Now that you know where to find texture packs for Minecraft, let’s go over how to add them to the game.

So, you have all the texture packs you want to add to your game, but how are you supposed to do it?

Let’s go over all the easy steps you will need to follow, in order to add texture packs in Minecraft Java Edition.

First of all, you will need to open the folder that has all the texture packs you have downloaded. For most people, they will be in the Downloads folder unless you moved them.

Now let’s go over all the steps you will need to do, to get whatever texture pack you want in your game.

  • Open Minecraft Java Edition
  • From the main menu go to the options at the bottom
  • Go to the Resource Pack which is the last option on the list on the left
  • Inside the Resource Pack menu, you will see two columns (on the left under available you will see the Programmer Art texture pack and on the right the Default texture pack)
  • Click the Open Pack Folder at the bottom (a separate folder will be opened on your PC desktop)
  • Drag the zip-type texture pack files from the folder you have them in, to the folder that opened up
  • Back in the game, in the column on the left, you will see your texture pack (In case you don’t see it at first, press done to the options menu, and then go back into the Resource Pack options)
  • Now that it’s in the left column, hover over it, and press the arrow that appears above the image (The texture pack will now appear in the right column above the Default texture pack)
  • Press done, and now the texture pack will be activated when you start the game

Customization has become a core part of the Minecraft experience when players started creating their own texture packs.
