Making a bed in Sons of the Forest should be one of your top priorities when starting the game. A bed allows you to save your progress and sleep to reduce fatigue and skip the night.
To make a bed, players will need to open the survival guide and locate the stick bed, which can be crafted with sticks and duct tape.
In this guide, I will explain how to make a bed in Sons of the Forest to sleep and save your progress.

How to Make a Bed in Sons of the Forest

To make a bed, players will have to open their survival guide (hotkey: B) and navigate to the Furniture tab (hotkey: X – have the survival guide on your left hand). From there, scroll through the menu until you can find the stick bed blueprint.
After finding the blueprint, select it to place it in any spot you like. Ideally, this will be placed inside your base. Constructing the stick bed blueprint will require the following materials:
- 16x sticks (found on the ground or by breaking small trees and bushes)
- 1x duct tape (can be found by looting containers around the world)
As long as you have these items in your inventory, interact with the stick bed blueprint and place everything there.
How to Sleep and Save in Sons of the Forest
Now that you’ve placed a bed in your base, let’s see how to use it. The only way to save the game in Sons of the Forest is by interacting with a bed or any other place where you can sleep (tent, shelter).
Simply walk near the bed and either save your game (hotkey: E), or sleep (hotkey: Z).
Keep in mind that you may need to sleep twice if you’re too tired. Additionally, even if you’re not tired at all, you can sleep at any point to skip the night. After all, it gets so dark that you can’t see even right in front of you.
Lastly, even if you’re playing with multiple other players, you don’t need to craft more than one bed as everyone can save and sleep there.
Alternatives to Using a Bed
Of course, there are other ways to spend the night or save the game if you don’t want to invest in a bed. Specifically, the best early-game option is building a shelter, which requires the following materials:
- 1x Tarp (can be found by looting containers; there is one at the crash site where the game begins)
- 1x Stick (can be found anywhere on the ground or by chopping down small trees and bushes)
Find the tarp from your inventory (top right corner) and place it on the ground. Then, use a stick in any of its four corners to turn it into a shelter.
The best part is that after sleeping, you can pick it up and replace it whenever you want it.
Thus, one of the tips for Sons of the Forest is to always carry a tarp with you, in case you need to save or sleep.
Wrapping up
In conclusion, players can make a stick bed by finding the blueprint in the survival guide and assembling it with sticks and duct tape.
Then, interact with it to save the game or sleep the night.
