Crafting in Torchlight Infinite comes in a pretty unique form compared to most other ARPG games.
It’s much more relevant and also quite essential towards the end game than the initial phases. There’s also not much work required to be put in to craft in the game.
Nevertheless, it IS important to know how to craft in Torchlight Infinite so that you can make the best use of this feature and boost your attributes in the game.
How to Craft in Torchlight Infinite?
Crafting in Torchlight Infinite is done to upgrade the gears that you have equipped in your character, be it Berserker or Moto. These upgrades help to either deal greater damage with your character or defend yourself better.
First of all, crafting is done with the help of the Arms Dealer, Maud.

Maud can be easily found in any open area and once you interact with Maud, you’ll have the option to choose from Craft, Enchant, and Gear Empowerment, provided that you’ve unlocked all of them.
For the purpose of our article, I’ll be discussing about the Craft option. Enchant and Gear Empowerment play a key part in the game too.
How to unlock Craft option in Torchlight Infinite?
In order to unlock Craft option in Torchlight Infinite, you’ll need to reach at least Level 70 and defeat the first boss in NetherRealms as well as complete the maps that follow.
You may be able to unlock the option halfway through Level 60s or you may take a bit longer, so make sure you keep a check on it from time to time!
How does Crafting work in Torchlight Infinite?
The gears in Torchlight Infinite have a certain stat value of their own. These stats are buffed up with the help of prefixes and post-fixes. The base gears usually don’t come with any affixes, while the legendary gears already have a few installed.
Crafting and Enchantment are both used to upgrade the gears and integrate prefixes as well as post-fixes.
Enchantment lets you upgrade a gear only once with your preferred affix. The next time you Enchant your gear, the previously-added affix will be exchanged with the new one.
On the other hand, Crafting brings a much wider range of options to replace a certain prefix or suffix in your gear through Embers. The catch is that you don’t get to choose the buff that’s being integrated.

There are more than 10 different Embers available for each gear in the game with a different combination of buffs for either the pre-fix or the post-fix.
Since you have a huge range of options to choose from these Embers, Crafting gains huge importance in the end game, when you need to optimize each of the six stats of your gear.
Crafting in Torchlight Infinite
When you select Craft from Maud the Arms Dealers’ offered options, a new window will open up where you’ll be asked to choose the gear you wish to craft and upgrade.

Once you’ve selected the gear, you can scroll down the list of the Embers that you have in your inventory on the right side of your screen, such as Vigor Ember, Essence Ember, Tenacity Ember, and more.
If you select each Ember, you can see whether it offers a change in Pre-fix or Post-fix section as well as the possible stats that you may receive should you decide to craft.
Since the limit is six affixes, if you haven’t gotten six yet, crafting in the section you’re lacking in will automatically add a stat in that section random. We’ll take a look at an example below!
However, if there six of pre-fixes and post-fixes altogether, then one of these stats will be replaced when you craft.
Let’s take, for example, the Dragon Guardian’s Faceguard gear in the picture below, which is at level 87.

Two of the pre-fix slots are empty and we can fill up the affix by crafting. In case all the slots are filled for your gear, look for the weak link in the gear’s affixes and what you want to change about it.
Go through the Ember options and choose the one that best fits your pre-fix/post-fix stats requirement. The Ruling Ember works for this example.

Make sure the stat for both your gear and the Ember are in the same affix section; for our instance, it’s the pre-fix section.
Once you click on “Craft” on the bottom-right of the screen, any one of the buffs from Ruling Ember’s possible stats will be added to the pre-fix of your gear.
The stat is chosen at random but it’s not integrated right away. The game shows you which stat has been chosen and if you aren’t content with the choice, you can always cancel the process and craft again.

Repeat the same process until you get the stat that you want and then click on “Confirm”.
Your gear will now come with the stat that you just crafted with the help of an Ember!
You should take your time to make the correct decision when you’re choosing the pre-fix or post-fix to be added to your gear.
Wrapping Up
Whether you’re playing Gemma or Oracle, upgrading your gear is a must. Even the best characters will need to buff up their gears in order to deal with the bosses in the end game. That’s where crafting comes in.
Crafting helps to get that extra notch in the affixes of the gear, that extra feature in order to properly optimize the gear and use it to its full potential.
Till now, crafting is present in a pretty minimal form. The devs will probably add newer elements to crafting as well as Enchant and Gear Empowerment with future updates.
