Let’s check out an actual tier list of the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann mobile game Gunmen – aka the characters that you have control over, not the pilots that everybody else mentions (and you have no control over these).

I am creating this list of the best characters in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann based on the TTGLEN version of the game, although I believe it should work for SEA also.

We’re going to list the best characters in the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann mobile game into four tiers. You might be familiar with these, but here’s a quick recap of what each tier means:

  • Tier S: The absolute best characters in the game
  • Tier A: Very good characters in the game
  • Tier B: Decent characters, but secondary at best
  • Tier C: Characters that are more or less useless (basically the 2-stars that should be turned into pieces instantly)

With these in mind, let’s quickly take a look at the Tier List for TTGL mobile game below!

NOTE: I am constantly updating this list as I test the characters in battle. Last updated: October 16, 2023.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Tier S Characters (Best in the Game)

Enki TTGL

We will focus on the best 5-star characters in TTGLEN (and most likely TTGLSEA too) here. I will explain why I chose them more in depth below in a future update, but for starters, I want to have this list published to help you build the perfect starting setup!

  • Enki (best Gunmen in my opinion)
  • Gurren Lagann (free char/easy to star up)
  • Greaperal (Darry) – best support in the game
  • Dai-Gunzan
  • Dai-Gurren
  • SP Einzer
  • EX King Kittan
  • Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren
  • Arch-Gurren Lagann
  • Lazengann

IMPORTANT: Some of these characters are better against single enemies (such as legion battles). Always prioritize enemies dealing damage to a single target when battling against the Legion bosses.

Ranking the best characters in popular games is difficult, but a thing that has to be done. If you want to learn more about this game, I have two guides published already:

Dai Gunkai Tier List TTGL

These characters are also great, if you don’t have any of the above unlocked. They can also be used in various team setups, especially if you go for element bonuses.

  • SP Kidknuckle (becomes better when you unlock his 3rd skill)

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Tier B Characters

These are a bit meh in my opinion. I wouldn’t focus on them too much, but they might be helpful if you are really unlucky and have nothing better on hand.

  • Shuzack
  • Dai-Gundo
  • Greaperal (Gimmy)
  • Enkidu

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Tier C Characters

Here, you can list all the three star characters. I will test them around and see which (if any) can be placed in a higher tier, but I doubt – because we’re talking about their starting stats mostly.

  • King Kittan
  • Gurren
  • Einzer
  • Lagann
  • Soban Ryu
  • Kidknuckle
  • Sawzorthn
  • Dayakkaiser
  • Twinboekun
  • Mo-Shogun
  • Jurokusen
  • ALL 2-star Gunmen (set those to automatically be turned into items)

Note about the best characters in TTGLS

Any native 5-star (or rarer) character that you have will be better than a 3-star character, even after upgrading them.

So early on, focus on creating your team based on whatever you have in this area – most likely Gurren Lagann himself, since that’s the one you get for free and whatever you get from the 3-ish free draws that you win.

Build your team based on these characters, upgrade them and equip them well because you can reset them once a better one pops up, and therefore quickly get back on track.

Conclusion

This list will probably be changed a bit as I play the game more and get to test all the characters. I would love to hear your thoughts about the best characters in TTGL and why you like them so much.

I am sure that together, we can build the ULTIMATE Tier List for the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann mobile game.

But until then, I believe that focusing on the characters in the Tier S above is the best way to go. Level them up, progress, unlock more and build that perfect team.
