Flint is the next materials upgrade after wood and stone and players will need to get it fairly early in the game if they want to progress.
Specifically, Flint can be found at the southern beach on the map, just below Skadi Spawn and near the Rhino Beetle, which is the first boss.

How to Get Flint in Smalland: Survive the Wilds
Before getting Flint, make sure to get your hands on a Mandibular Pickaxe, the first Pickaxe in the game.
This can be acquired by following the story and will require you to collect Wood, Fiber, and Bull Ant Mandible. After crafting the Mandibular Pickaxe, you’re ready to collect Flint.
To get Flint in Smalland: Survive the Wilds, simply travel south from the spawn until you reach the beach.
It can be found easily while following the main story, after meeting with Skadi and learning about the Rhino Beetle world boss.
Players can also simply run there within the first hour of starting the game if they want to get access to Flint quickly. Just make sure to avoid combat with the Rhino Beetle, which is also on the beach.
Flint can be found in the form of nodes and requires a pickaxe to gather.
The majority of the Flint nodes can be found on a hill, just next to the Rhino Beetle. Use your tracking skill and you’ll be able to spot it easily.
How to Use Flint and Upgrade Tools in Smalland: Survive the Wilds
With Flint, you can craft various new recipes, including new Flint tools. Specifically, you can make the following items at any Stonecutter:
- Flint Hatchet (10x Resin, 6x Flint, 5x Refined Wood)
- Flint Spear (5x Fiber, 4x Resin, 8x Flint, 4x Refined Wood)
- Flint Sword (8x Resin, 10x Flint, 4x Refined Wood)
- Flint Pickaxe (5x Fiber, 5x Resin, 10x Flint, 5x Refined Wood)
- Flint Shears (5x Fiber, 5x Resin, 8x Flint, 5x Refined Wood)
- Flint Arrow (2x Wood, 2x Flint, 2x Insect Fur)
The best thing to craft first with Flint is the Flint Pickaxe. It will allow you to collect Flint faster, while also allowing you to gather the Tree Bark that can be found on the beach near the Flint nodes.
Keep in mind that the best weapon to craft now is the Flint Spear, as the Rhino Beetle Boss is weak to pierce damage.
