Koraidon and Miraidon are the exclusive legendaries of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. As they are different Pokemon, each has its pros and cons.
Therefore, depending on the scenario, one can be better than the other. However, evidently, one of them has more weak spots than the other, which makes it more vulnerable overall.
Before moving on to which one is better, it’s important to know that both Miraidon and Koraidon can be amazing assets for your team, especially if they have the best nature possible.
In this guide, I will compare Koraidon and Miraidon based on combat stats and type weaknesses and showcase which is better in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Koraidon vs Miraidon Type – Who’s Better in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The first main difference is their type. Koraidon is a Fighting/Dragon-type Pokemon, while Miraidon is Electric/Dragon-type.
In terms of weaknesses due to type, Koraidon is weak (2x) to Flying, Psychic, Ice, and Dragon, and extra weak (4x) to Fairy.
On the other hand, Miraidon is weak (2x) to Ground, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy.
The key difference is that Miraidon is weak to four elements, while Koraidon is weak to five. This leaves Miraidon in a better spot since it’s vulnerable to fewer attacks overall. Point to Miraidon!
Koraidon vs Miraidon Damage – Who’s Better in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
In terms of the maximum damage that these Pokemon can deal, Miraidon comes slightly ahead.
Miraidon’s Electric moves get buffed twice: once due to STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) and once due to its ability Hadron Engine which turns the battlefield into Electric Terrain.
Instead, Koraidon cannot utilize both buffs at the same time. Its ability, Orichalcum Pulse, buffs the damage of Fire-type moves, while its STAB affects Fighting and Dragon moves.
In short, this means that a super-effective Electro attack by Miraidon will hurt more than any attack by Koraidon. In terms of maximum damage possible, Miraidon gets another point!
Koraidon vs Miraidon Move Variety – Who’s Better in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
While Koraidon can deal less maximum damage compared to Miraidon, it’s important to note that it can utilize three types instead of two.
Other than its STAB moves which are Fighting and Dragon, its Orichalcum Pulse ability allows it to use Fire-type moves effectively.
This gives Koraidon more options for countering opponents. Due to adaptability, Koraidon wins in this category. Point to Koraidon!
Koraidon vs Miraidon Stats – Who’s Better in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
As for stats, Koraidon and Miraidon are tied. Specifically, they share the exact same stats, simply re-arranged.
They have the same HP and Speed, with Miraidon having higher Special Attack and Special Defense, and Koraidon winning in terms of Attack and Defense.
Therefore, in terms of stats, there’s no notable difference between them and neither comes on top.
Conclusion
To sum up, while situational, Miraidon is overall better than Koraidon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Miraidon is weak to fewer types and can hit harder, while Koraidon can be more versatile. Of course, there are scenarios where versatility can be more important and thus Koraidon comes out on top.
However, in most cases, Miraidon will be the better choice. Regardless of that, both have their unique strengths, which makes them ideal choices for taking down 6-star raids, the hardest content in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
