To unlock the Inventor secondary job in Octopath Traveler 2, travel to Eastern New Delsta Highroad in the Brightlands and explore the map.
Specifically, navigate to the southeast side of the area where you’ll find a bridge leading to a house.
In the house, you’ll meet Arkar, who will give you the Inventor job license right after talking to him.

The Inventor secondary job is fairly unique in the sense that its skills do not require JP to unlock.
Instead, players will need to collect certain materials and bring them to the inventor to unlock each skill.

Overall, the best characters for the Inventor secondary job are Agnea and Throne.
Agnea gains some much-needed utility to complement her high physical damage while Throne can use her Latent Power to move twice and apply even more buffs and debuffs.
Another great option is Hikari, who can use Inventor’s job skills to buff his own stats as his physical damage is fairly high.
Keep in mind that many players prefer using Hikari as an Armsmaster since it gives him more weapon variety.
