Idle Quest: Tips & Guide to Complete all Quests and Endings

I am a huge fan of incremental / idle games and I loved playing the minimalist Idle Quest on Kongregate. Today I am here to share with you some Idle Quest tips in a complete guide to the game, one that will help you micromanage your resources and complete all quests before everybody else does so.

I don’t remember playing idle games that are as quest-heavy as this one: basically, you are playing only to complete quests, exactly as the name suggests. And even though the fancy graphics are missing, the game itself is extremely entertaining and addictive.

So let’s see how to get better at this game by checking out some Idle Quest tips and tricks below to get all endings

Micromanagement is key

This is basically all that this game is about: micromanagement. You have a limited number of Working Points and a ton of ways to spend them. Activating and deactivating skills and stats and working on quests is the key to victory.

Despite its name, Idle Quest is not entirely idle as you will have to spend a lot of time in the game itself, clicking buttons to complete quests, switch production and such. Long breaks are useful for collecting large amount of money, but you won’t be able to progress unless you switch from one work to another, based on needs.

Collect heaps of cash!

Money is extremely important, because you need to produce a ton of cash in order to complete all missions. Collecting money is not easy, because the amounts generated by your skills are generally low… but they add up eventually.

Things are pretty simple here, although time consuming: in order to collect huge amounts of cash, you will need to put your best skills to work. Find the right balance between using all your Working Points on skills and choosing the skills that actually produce the highest amount of cash.

Blacksmith is one of the best places for you to invest your Working Points in, since you get a huge amount of money from that. Next, focus on the ones that give you the highest amount per Working Points spent, but have in mind that it’s not always the ones that require the largest number of Working Points that give you the biggest profits.

For example, Hunting costs just 10 WP, but gives you higher profits that Carpentry or Farming. Herbalism is also great in terms of profits per WP used.

The idea is to always set your Working Points to these high money making skills whenever you take a break from the game: when you return, you will have collected a ton of coins which will help you complete all missions.

Have in mind that each skill will produce more money when you level it up, so try to max them all out before deciding which one are the more profitable in your current state.

Focus on completing quests

Your main goal in the game is, obviously, that of completing quests. Right now, there are 11 people giving you quests and around 200 quests to complete. That will require a lot of work.

Especially since the quests will get more and more difficult, forcing you to focus on improving things you haven’t worked on or which were recently unlocked. This is how the game goes!

There is no real way of beating all the missions without taking them one by one. Simply click on each of the portrays and see what missions can be completed: if you have a “Go” or “Pay” button near a quest, it means that you can do it if you have enough free WP. If not, that’s a skill or stat you have to improve (or money to collect).

Quests are usually completed in batches, meaning that once you reach the threshold for a certain quest, you will be able to complete one or two more, at least.

When to reset progress

Like in most idle games, it is possible to reset your progress and start over in Idle Quest as well. Each time you do so, you gain prestige points, which speed up your progress next time you play.

The good thing about Prestiging is that you keep your Working Points, so the more you have, the better – not only you will progress faster, but you will also be able to do a lot of things at the same time.

I recommend you to reset your progress every day – if you play at least a semi-active game during this time. Try to always aim to get anything between 50% – 100% points of your existing points when prestiging in order to make it worthwhile.

Remember that when you prestige, even though will get that massive bonus, you will still have to do all the missions again and again to progress through the game. This is why you want as many points as possible.

But don’t wait for too long either: if the amounts of money that you need to collect are huge and you are making little progress, there’s no reason to delay the inevitable and a better idea to just restart.

Stats and Skills

While the skills are the ones you need activated to make money, it’s your stats that make them better: for each upgrade of your various stat levels, the speed at which your skill bars fill increases.

I have to say that it’s not very clear right now what stats affect your skills, so it’s a bit difficult to plan this out a lot. I personally take them in groups, maximizing the first three ones (somewhere to level 40) before moving on to the others.

I only keep working on three stats at a time, using the rest of the WP to work on skills.

How to spend your gems

Interesting enough, you can’t spend real life money to get gems, so the limited amount that you can get through completing achievements is what you will have to use to make your life easier.

Since there is a maximum of around 260 gems that you can earn right now, you have to be very smart when it comes to spending them. Here is how I recommend you to invest your first few batches:

First, wait until you have 30 gems and buy 10 extra Working Points (these will stay with you after Prestige). Then, wait until you get 30 more and make the same purchase. Finally, wait until you have 60 to get 25 more.

The Working points are extremely important in this game and the more you have, the better. But at the same time, if you wait to hoard gems and buy the best deal – 50 WP for 100 Gems, it will take you a lot of time because you won’t have a lot of working points to play with.

If you are the more patient type, you can definitely wait until 60 for your second purchase, that won’t happen fast. If you make the first three purchases as I have recommended, things should go well – and you sill have over 120 gems incoming, allowing you to spend them as you wish.

I would personally recommend buying extra WP or maybe Stat Speed upgrades and never the game speed boosts since those are just a waste of Gems.

Get all the Endings, one by one

While Idle Quest has endings – unlike any other idle game that I have seen or played, it’s not going to be an easy ride getting there.

There are three endings at the moment and you will only be able to do them one at a time: you will have to start with Chef, move on to Ranger and finally do the Knight ending, which has some pretty insane requirements (especially with the amount of money required to complete them).

You will actually be able to complete the first ending in around 48 hours if you are playing an active game – maybe even faster. But it doesn’t really matter how fast you get there – important is to do it eventually.
