You can unlock the Matter Deconstructor in Pacific Drive through the Fabricator after unlocking the Scanning Antenna, Gear, and Craft Mat.
To craft it, you’ll need the following resources:
- 35x Scrap Metal
- 4x Gears
- 4x Electronics
- 0.8 Stable Energy
Once crafted, you can place it in your garage. To use the Matter Deconstructor, place items you don’t need inside, and you’ll get random materials in return.

Why Doesn’t the Matter Deconstructor Give Anything Back?
The Matter Deconstructor only grants materials if you add Car Parts, Garbage Pearls, and other valuable craftable items. If you add raw materials or Crude Car Parts with low durability, you won’t get anything back.
Also, you cannot recycle items obtained via the friendly dumpster that has the heart symbol. If you add any of those, you won’t get anything back.
Overall, the best things to add are Garbage Pearls and quality car parts. Once you upgrade your car parts to a better tier, recycle the lower-tier ones through the deconstructor, and you’ll get some useful materials back.
