Are you trying to upgrade your Scrappy Pickaxe in Enshrouded to the next tier but can’t find out how? Here’s what you must know.
In short, the next pickaxe upgrade will become available when you mine and smelt copper after progressing through the main questline and upgrading your Flame. Once you pick up the first Copper Bar, you’ll unlock a wide variety of recipes, including the next pickaxe upgrade.

How to Upgrade Scrappy Pickaxe in Enshrouded
To unlock the Scrappy Pickaxe, alongside most Copper upgrades in Enshrouded, you must fulfill three requirements:
- Place one Copper Bar in your backpack (action bar doesn’t count)
- Progress through the main quests until you unlock Copper recipes
- Upgrade your Flame Level
As long as you’re progressing through the quests normally, you won’t have to worry too much about them. All you need is a Copper Bar in your inventory, which can be obtained after smelting Copper Ore.
Where to Find Copper Ore
Copper can be commonly found across most mining locations, but the best areas to farm it are the Mark of Sameth (top left corner of the map) and the Glimmer Rock Mine (middle, just right of Small Clay Mine).
Keep in mind that both mines are filled with enemies, so make sure to be prepared. If you’re not sure where to spend your skill points and which class to go for, here is our class tier list in Enshrouded. This way, you’ll have the most optimal loadout.
Alternatively, you can find some Copper around the Revelwood biome, but in smaller quantities.
How to Make Copper and Bronze Bars
To make Copper and Bronze Bars in Enshrouded, complete the Crucible Needed for a Smelter quest, which will unlock the Smelter. If you can’t find the Blacksmith, check out our guide on all Craftspeople locations in Enshrouded.
Then, you’ll have access to the following recipes for bars:
- 10x Copper Bars = 20x Copper + 20x Charcoal
- 10x Bronze Bars = 7x Copper Bars + 3x Tin Bars + 10x Charcoal
Once you place the first Bar in your inventory, you’ll unlock all its recipes, including the new Pickaxe upgrades.
