Burning the Erdtree in Elden Ring is a key moment, and here’s everything you need to do before that to ensure you don’t miss anything.
Before burning the Erdtree, ensure you pick up all important items from Royal Capital Leyndell, fight the Raging Wolf Varagram and Errant Sorcerer Willem summons, and progress the Goldmask and Brother Corryhn story.
Let’s go through each of these in turn.
Everything You Need to Do Before Burning the Erdtree in Elden Ring
Once you burn the Erdtree in Elden Ring, the location of Royal Capital Leyndell will change to Ashen Capital. As a result, many items and NPC interactions will get lost and be replaced with new ones.
To ensure you’re not missing anything, focus on completing the following activities before Ashen Capital:
Explore Royal Capital Leyndell for Items
The city is full of items like weapons, equipment, consumables, and even the Seedbed Curse quest item. Seedbed Curses are important for the Dung Eater questline, so make sure to pick both of them (one in Fortified Manor and one in East Ramparts).
Make sure to explore the city thoroughly. Afterward, all these items will disappear.
Raging Wolf Varagram & Errant Sorcerer Willhelm Fight
Another important thing is a quest line in Volcano Manor. Interact with Barnahl and progress his quest by fishing two assassinations for Tanith.
Travel to Fortified Manor and fight the Raging Wolf Varagram and Errant Sorcerer Willem summons, and interact with Bernahl again to claim your rewards. This must be done before burning the Erdtree and before fighting Rykard.
Progress Goldmask & Brother Corryhn’s Story – Age of Order Ending
If you want to get the Age of Order ending, focus on progressing Goldmask and Brother Corryhn’s storyline. After meeting them near Windmill Village, they will travel to Leyndell, on the cliffside near the Erdtree.
To progress in this quest, before burning the Erdtree, head to Radagon’s Statue, cast the Law of Regression to learn his real identity, and talk to Goldmask.
If you burn the Erdtree before doing that, you’ll lose access to this questline.
Wrapping up
To summarize, before burning the Erdtree in Elden Ring, ensure you’ve explored everything in Royal Capital Leyndell and progressed any sidequests requiring this location.
After burning it, you’ll change the city to the Ashen Capital, which will include new items, quests, and interactions while also locking you out of any previous items and quests.
