Upgrading your weapons is important in Dave the Diver, especially if you’re planning to dive deep and face some of the toughest creatures in the game.

How to Upgrade Weapons in Dave the Diver
There are two ways to upgrade your weapons in Dave the Diver:
- Temporary upgrade – Collect weapon upgrades while exploring the ocean from any crate. However, these upgrades will get lost once you go back to the surface.
- Permanent upgrade – Unlock Duff’s shop and collect the materials required for each upgrade. Any upgrades done from Duff’s shop will be permanent.
However, you won’t be able to access Duff’s shop immediately when starting the game. Instead, you’ll need to unlock it first.
How to Unlock and Use Duff’s Shop in Dave the Diver
To unlock Duff’s shop in Dave the Diver, players will need to complete the first boss fight, which is the Giant Squid boss. Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to beat and you won’t have any trouble with this fight.
After the fight, you’ll be able to buy items from Duff’s shop. Let’s examine how to use this shop.
First, you can buy new weapons from there and use them in future runs. To do that, while exploring the ocean, pick up the weapons you want to unlock. While you won’t keep them permanently when going to the surface, you will earn blueprints for these weapons.
After earning enough blueprints, you will be able to buy the weapons permanently from Duff’s shop.
To permanently upgrade your weapons in Dave the Diver, visit Duff’s weapon shop and navigate to the upgrade tab (default hotkey: Ctrl).
From there, you’ll be able to see any materials you’ll need to gather to upgrade your weapons. Some upgrades will require completing certain sub-missions beforehand, so make sure to progress with your sidequests as much as possible.
Any weapon upgrade purchases from Duff’s shop will stay forever and will help you hunt bigger prey while in the ocean.
