The crafting bench is one of the most important stations in LEGO Fortnite, and in this full guide, I will go over everything you need to know.
The crafting bench has four different tiers, and players will be able to upgrade to each of them unlocking better weapons, and equipment along the way.
Let’s dive into what you need for each different tier of the crafting bench,
LEGO Fortnite: Common Crafting Bench

The common crafting bench is the first ever crafting bench players will be able to build after the beginning.
The common crafting bench has two different material requirements.
- 3 Wood
- 5 Granite
Both materials can be easily found by collecting wood, and rocks from the ground giving you both materials.
There will also need to be a campfire placed nearby for players to be able to place it.
This is the beginning of your crafting bench upgrading journey.

LEGO Fortnite: Uncommon Crafting Bench
The uncommon crafting bench is the second-tier players will be able to get by upgrading the common crafting bench.
The uncommon crafting bench has two different material requirements.
- 8 Planks
- 3 Shells
These materials are a little harder to get compared to the ones you have to get before, but as you get more things unlocked with each upgrade the requirements understandably become harder to get.
To get the Planks, players will need to build a Lumber Mill. You can build a Lumber Mill from the build menu using Wood and Granite.
Once built, the lumber mill will allow players to process wood. The process is simple, and by just feeding the lumber mill wood, players will be able to get the required planks.
The Shells require players to defeat enemies. Rollers are small ball-shaped bugs that pop out of the ground, and once defeated they will drop the shells.
Players will need to either have a sword in order or damage them, or use the tool they have at their disposal already.
LEGO Fortnite: Rare Crafting Bench
The rare crafting bench is the third-tier players will be able to get by upgrading the uncommon crafting bench.
The rare crafting bench has four different material requirements.
- 12 Knotroot Rods
- 15 Marble Slabs
- 6 Sand Claws
- 3 Sand Shells
This is the first upgrade that requires more than two materials to upgrade the crafting bench.
The Knotroot Rods are tree roots that can be found hanging in Grassland cave walls. You can find caves, by opening the map and looking for the small cave symbol on it.
The Knotroot Rods require one more thing from players before allowing them to get it. Players will need to be equipped with an Uncommon Axe to be able to harvest it.
The Marble Slabs require a similar procedure to the planks from the previous upgrade. Players will need to build the Stone Breaker from the build menu and harvest Marble from Grassland caves with an uncommon pickaxe.
Then by using the Stone Breaker players will be able to process Marble to Marble Slabs.
The last two materials are monster drops players will get by defeating Sand Wolves in the Dry Valley at night, and Hermit Crabs and Sand Rollers in the Shores biome in the morning.
An uncommon sword will be enough to defeat them and gather the required materials.
Before moving on let’s look a little bit more at how to stay warm, and survive the cold in LEGO Fortnite.
LEGO Fortnite: Epic Crafting Bench
The epic crafting bench is the final tier players will be able to get by upgrading the rare crafting bench.
The epic crafting bench has three different material requirements.
- 15 Copper Bars
- 25 Obsidian Slabs
- 1 Brute Scale
Copper Bars will require the Metal Smelter to be processed. The Metal Smelter can be built from the build menu. Copper can be harvested from lava caves in the Dry Valley with a rare pickaxe.
Then by using the Metal Smelter players will be able to process Copper to Copper Bars.
The Obsidian Slabs require a similar procedure to the Marble Slabs from the previous upgrade. Players will need to use the Stone Breaker they built before and harvest Obsidian from lava caves in the Dry Valley with a rare pickaxe.
Then by using the Stone Breaker players will be able to process Obsidian to Obsidian Slabs.
The last material will see players facing off against the ferocious Brutes. There are three variants, but the one players will need to defeat is the standard Brute stomping around the Shores biome.
Be sure that you don’t accidentally defeat the Sand Brute, because you won’t get the material you need.
Note: Players should use the safer long-distance fighting strategy using the Recurve Crossbow since you won’t have the strongest weapons yet.
