If you’re playing Palworld on an ultrawide display, you might notice that the game is zoomed in and cropped, not displaying as it should.
Fortunately, there is a quick fix for that – simply editing the game’s Engine.ini file will do the trick. Because, after all, despite the AI-usage controversy, Palworld remains a game that we all love to play.
Here is what you need to do if you have the same problems:
1. Navigate to Palworld’s Local Data folder on your computer:
Windows – Users – YOURUSERNAME – AppData – Local – Pal – Saved – Config – Windows
(Note: Those on Gamepass will find the file here: AppData – Local- Pal – Saved – Config – WinGDK)
2. In that folder, click the Engine.ini (or simply Engine) and open it with Notepad
3. Add the text below at the bottom of the file:
[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV
4. Save the file, and then set it to be read only by right clicking it – selecting Properties and ticking the “Read only” box.
Now you can launch the game, and it will no longer be zoomed in. This is not 100% perfect, as the UI will still be locked to the corners of your screen, but you will see that it’s a lot better.
This way, you can focus on building the best base in the game, or farming XP to level up faster.
This is a problem caused by the Unreal engine that the game uses, but the fix will be permanent (this is why we made it read only – so the game won’t revert it back).
This solution was posted on Reddit and Steam. You can also check out these threads for screenshots showing the differences before and after implementing the ultrawide FOV fix in the game.
