Octopath Traveler 2: How to Get All Rusty Weapons

Rusty Weapons are needed to unlock certain unique and extremely powerful weapons in Octopath Traveler 2.

There are six Rusty Weapons and each is hidden in a different corner of the world.

In this guide, I will mention how to get all six Rusty Weapons in Octopath Traveler 2.

Keep in mind that to restore Rusty Weapons, you will need to interact with the Blacksmith in Gravell and progress his quest to unlock the Armsmaster secret secondary job.

How to Get All Rusty Weapons in Octopath Traveler

I will list all six Rusty Weapons starting from the easiest to obtain and leading to the most difficult one.

After obtaining any of those weapons, visit the Blacksmith in Gravell to get an upgraded weapon.

How to Get Rusty Sword (No Lv. Requirement)

To get the Rusty Sword, travel to Oresrush in the Wildlands and obtain the Sturdy Pickaxe from the Retired Miner in the Weapons Shop (top right corner of the town). To get it, use Throne’s Steal Talent.

Then, travel to Winterbloom in the Winterlands and head to the right side of the town to find the Troubled Woman standing next to a sword stuck in the ground.

Interact with her and she’ll give you the Rusty Sword (plus 7,000 Leaves and a Revitalizing Jam) after giving her the Sturdy Pickaxe.

Giving the Rusty Sword to the Armsmaster will award you with the Conqueror’s Sword.

How to Get Rusty Staff (Lv. 26+)

For the Rusty Staff, head to Borderfall in the Crestlands. After fast-traveling, head right and go down the two ladders. Set sail from the dock and head into the waterfall, which is the Seat of the Water Sprite cave.

From the save point within the cave, head left and at the next turn go up. Keep heading up until the road ends.

From there, you’ll be able to spot a ladder in the distance.

Get to the ladder, head down, and keep moving straight until you find the chest with the Rusty Staff.

Giving the Rusty Staff to the Armsmaster will award you with the Spiritlord’s Staff.

How to Get Rusty Axe (Lv. 30+)

To get the Rusty Axe, travel to Western Sai Sands in Hinoeuma. From the save point, head up and straight left. Follow the path to find the Quicksand Gaol cave.

Head to the chest in the middle of the cave and defeat the boss there to obtain the Rusty Axe.

The boss there is the Lord of the Sands, which is weak to Sword, Dagger, Axe, Ice, and Light attacks.

Giving the Rusty Axe to the Armsmaster will award you with the Lionheart’s Axe.

How to Get Rusty Polearm (Lv. 45+)

For the Rusty Polearm, travel to Timberain in the Leaflands. Head straight up until you reach Timberain Castle Town Square.

At the fountain, turn left and head down the stairs. Follow the path until you find a soldier blocking a door.

Use Throne’s Talent Ambush to take him down and follow the hidden path inside the house.

This will lead you to a chest that contains the Rusty Polearm.

Giving the Rusty Polearm to the Armsmaster will award you with the Warlord’s Spear.

How to Get Rusty Bow (Lv. 46+)

To get all the Rusty Weapons in Octopath Traveler 2, you will need to face some of the hardest optional bosses in the game. One of these bosses is guarding the Rusty Bow.

Travel to the Nameless Village in Toto’haha and head down to Southern Nameless Village Traverse.

Head down, set sail, and keep heading down and left until you reach the bottom left corner of the map.

From the dock there, follow the main path until you reach the Sinking Ruins dungeon.

From the save point, head up and then take a left turn. Keep heading left until the road ends and then go down the stairs. After you reach the bottom of the stairs, head left, and follow the path until you find the chest with the Rusty Bow.

You will need to defeat the Behemoth boss before accessing the chest, which is weak to Polearm, Axe, Bow, and Ice.

Giving the Rusty Bow to the Armsmaster will award you with the Hunter’s Bow.

How to Get Rusty Dagger (Lv. 48+)

To get the Rusty Dagger in Octopath Traveler 2, head to the Shipwreck of the Empress in The Sundering Sea (just below the Wildlands). Follow the main path and go up whenever you see stairs (not ladders).

The chest at the end will contain the Rusty Dagger.

Giving the Rusty Dagger to the Armsmaster will award you with the Dancer’s Dagger.
