Octopath Traveler has a great deal of customizability, from job combinations to the latent powers, and the boost mechanic. A really strong option for players is the two unlockable EX skills that every character has.
One way to gain EX Skills is by finishing a character’s story, and the other is obtained by visiting specific Altars with the corresponding characters. In this guide, I will show all the locations of these EX Altars for players to visit.
These Altars can be visited at any point in the story, or your progression. So use the knowledge of where they are, to get them if you find yourself passing through these locations.

EX Altar Locations in Octopath Traveler 2
Altar of the Scholarking in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Scholarking holds Osvald’s EX Skill, Teach.
Teach: Grant a single ally your attribute-raising effects for 2 (3,4,5 when boosted) turns.
In order to find the Atler of the Scholarking, you will need to teleport to Winterbloom. Head directly west of the town and keep moving west until you see a bridge.
You will need to walk through the ice and get below the bridge. There is a hidden entrance underneath it. Simply walk north and eventually you will reach the Altar of the Scholarking.
Altar of the Trader in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Trader holds Partitio’s EX Skill, Negotiate Schedule.
Negotiate Schedule: Pay a single foe to let you act during their turn.
In order to find the Atler of the Trader, you will need to teleport to Western Wildlands Harbor. Head north of the city, until you reach a fork in the road. Take the path east into the Southern Crackridge Wilds.
Keep traveling east and head inside the tunnels. Once you get past the tunnels, continue heading east to get to the Altar of the Trader.
Altar of the Charitable in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Charitable holds Castti’s EX Skill, Drastic Measures.
Drastic Measures: Unleash a powerful axe attack on a single foe, nullify their status ailments, and enfeebling effects. The more effects you nullify, the more potent the attack.
In order to find the Altar of the Charitable, you will need to travel to the town of Conning Creek, and then take the west exit to Western Conning Creek Coast. Keep heading North until you see a fork in the road.
When you reach the fork in the road head east, until you reach a temple that looks like it’s on the beach. Go inside and you will be at the Altar of the Charitable.
Altar of the Prince of Thieves in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Prince of Thieves holds Thrones’ EX Skill, Veil of Darkness.
Veil of Darkness: Deal dark-based damage to all foes, and dodge 1 physical attack with a 100% success rate.
In order to find the Altar of the Prince of Thieves, you will need to travel to the town of Clockbank. Leave through the south exit to Sothern Clockbank Highroad. Cross the wooden bridge north and head over to the port to get in a Canoe.
In the river, row your boat to the east before the waterfalls. There will be a ring of pink lotus indicating the entrance of the Altar of the Prince of Thieves.
Altar of the Huntress in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Huntress holds Ochette’s EX Skill, Indomitable Beast.
Indomitable Beast: Raise your physical attack, evasion, and speed for 3 (5,7,9 when boosted) turns.
In order to find the Altar of the Huntress, you will need to travel to the Western Tropu’hopu Traverse. Head east down some stairs into an open beach area.
Keep going east, and you will notice a blurred chest in the foreground. There will also be three rose bushes, pointing out that the entrance is there.
Altar of the Lady of Grace in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Lady of Grace holds Agnea’s EX Skill, Windy Refrain.
Windy Refrain: Deal wind-based damage to all foes, and cause your allies to act first on the next turn.
In order to find the Altar of the Lady of Grace, you will need to travel to the town of Wellgrove. Leave through the east exit on Eastern Wellgrove Trail, go down, look for a path under the bridge, and head north towards Northern Wellgrove Trail.
In this passage, go north until you encounter a save point, and go right until you reach a fork in the road. Go down south to find a large tree with a signpost next to it. Go around the large tree to find a hidden entrance.
Altar of the Flamebringer in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Flamebringer holds Temenos’ EX Skill, Prayer for Plenty.
Prayer for Plenty: Restore HP to a single ally, ignoring their max HP.
In order to find the Altar of the Flamebringer, you will need to travel to Flamechurch in the Crestlands region. This is located in the same place where you get the Cleric License. Make your way east of the town, to the Eastern Flamechurch Pass.
Continue until you reach Borderfall. Go north and take the path leading west, until you reach the church. When you’re inside the church, examine the door behind the bookshelf to find the Altar of the Flamebringer.
Altar of the Thunderblade in Octopath Traveler 2
The Altar of the Thunderblade holds Hikari’s EX Skill, Ultimate Stance.
Ultimate Stance: Extend the reach of your Attack to all foes for 3 (5,7,9 when boosted) turns.
In order to find the Altar of the Thunderblade, you will need to travel to the town of Sai. Take the south exit leading to the Southern Sai Sands. Follow the path southeast until you reach the Eastern Sai Sands.
Look for a ruined temple located south of the area, with an opening in its ceiling. Behind that, some stairs heading directly to the Altar of the Thunderblade.
