Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Them All

Dredge is a single-player fishing adventure. You will be tasked to sell your catch, upgrade your boat, and dredge the depths for long-buried secrets. Explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best left forgotten.

But a peaceful sea like this hides a deep dark secret for players to come face to face with. When players go out at night, and the fog rolls in, beware because rocks won’t be the only terror you will come against.

In this guide, I will go over Dredge’s sea monsters, and where to find them. Either for you to avoid them, and run from them, or to strengthen your mind, and use your abilities to survive the trip.

The game urges you to explore six different locations, and players will need to be wary because each one hides terrors, that will send shivers down your sailor’s spine.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Jelly Bomb

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Jelly-Bomb

Jelly Bombs are enemies that appear only in the Stellar Basin. They rise from the deep at night time before sinking back down at daybreak.

Jelly bombs wander through the sea lazily, but explode on contact with the player’s boat. They are generally very easy to avoid, and not much of a threat.

Effects: Upon impact, the ship takes damage to the hull, random fish in your cargo will get infected, and you are taking a reduction of Sanity.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Leviathan

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Leviathan

The Leviathan is a monster that is encountered at random in the open waters or when the player sails to the edge of the map. If players ignore these warnings to go back, the Leviathan will eat the player.

There are two open-water encounters.

  • One where the Leviathan will just pass by in the distance
  • The other is where the Leviathan will emerge near your ship in an attempt to damage it.

Take care not to stick around too long near it as even if you aren’t going out of bounds, the Leviathan may still eat your boat.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Mimick Crabs

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Mimic-Crabs

Mimic Crabs are large stationary enemies. These crabs are disguised as lootable wreaks or even as an Obelisk.

They can be encountered at any time of day or night, becoming active when a boat gets too close to them. Once a boat is within range, they will reveal themselves and thrash around to damage the boat.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Mind Sucker

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Mind-Sucker

The Mind Sucker is an enemy that appears in the Twisted Strand. They are the only enemy that appears here.

The Mind Suckers sense the player based on motion, and cannot track the player down if they stay still.

Effects: They inflict high Panic on the player, which will summon Vines to damage the boat.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Night Angler

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Night-Angler

The Night Angler or Ghost Ship is an enemy encountered at night. Although it appears as a ghost ship in the distance, when it approaches, its true form as an enormous ship-eating angler fish is revealed.

It will chase and attempt to attack the player’s Ship upon detection, damaging the hull integrity and increasing Panic.

The night angler can track the player using the Lights of the ship, or the Foghorn if it is used. By shutting off the lights and keeping movement minimal, the enemies can be avoided.

Once they begin chasing the ship, they are very fast and tough to avoid but can be outmaneuvered, especially with a powerful engine. After the player’s ship engine is highly upgraded, you can escape the Night Angler with ease.

It appears after 20:30 and gives up chasing the player after 03:30 (if it is chasing the player) and then disappears at 04:00. So it is completely safe to set sail after 4 a.m. instead of the default 6 a.m. There is a horn-like sound when it spawns.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Phantom Shark

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Phantom-Shark

The Phantom Shark is an enemy that appears in the Gale Cliffs and Stellar Basin with very high Panic.

Although it is much faster than the player and difficult to avoid, it can be defeated using Banish with quick reflexes. Nonetheless, it poses an immediate threat that will be on the player almost as soon as it appears.

This way of posing as an immediate threat trains players to think that even when everything seems to calm down, they are not as safe as they think.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Serpent

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Serpent

The Serpent is a monster encountered in Gale Cliffs.

It lurks within the passageways below the cliffs and will attack the player if they navigate within these boundaries. The Serpent will attack both at night and during the day.

It can be avoided by simply out-speeding it, either by having a sufficiently powerful Engine setup or by using the Haste ability. It mostly poses a danger to players hoping to fish or dredge within its territory.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Stellar Basin Creature

The Stellar Basin Creature is an enormous being found in the center of the Stellar Basin.

It is one of the largest creatures in the game, and it poses a threat to the player as it will lash out with its enormous tentacles. If the player sails overtop of the creature, it will attack them rapidly with its tentacles, which can easily sink the boat in a matter of seconds.

The Stellar Basin Creature cannot be harmed.

Dredge Sea Monsters: Where to Find Unseeing Mother

Dredge-Sea-Monsters-Where-to-Find-Them-All-Unseeing-Mother

The Unseeing Mother is a giant man-eating fish that can be found in Devil’s Spine.

As her name implies, she is blind and cannot see the player. She can only attack by hearing the calls of the Piranhas when they swarm the player, coming to their aid by biting at the boat.

The unseeing mother patrols around the archipelago to the north and east, always accompanied by a few of her children. Although she cannot be banished, she is incapable of harming the player without her children, who are vulnerable to the Banish ability.

Once the effects of the banishment have worn off, they will respawn quickly.

Conclusion

In conclusion, these were all the locations of sea monsters, and where to find them, in Dredge.

With many different horrors lurking in the deep, players will need to be careful when setting out on a journey across the sea.
