When starting a run in Yet Another Zombie Survivors, you’ll be called to select which character to set as your Team Leader.
The best team leader in the game is the SWAT as his weapon is useful for both early and late game and his Leader perk is extremely helpful.
In this guide, I will list all Team Leaders in Yet Another Zombie Survivors and showcase the best ones best on their Leader perks, weapons, and abilities.

Yet Another Zombie Survivors – Best Team Leader
There are six Team Leader options in YAZS and three of them are locked at first until you complete certain missions.
The best Team Leader to start with is the SWAT. His pistol has a solid fire rate and damage and you’ll be able to farm zombies easily at first while the SMG is a great late-game option.
Additionally, the SWAT’s Leader perk increases the Reload Speed of everyone in your team by 2.5%. If you’re pairing him with the Tank and Engineer, this buff will be extremely helpful.
Alternatively, the Huntress is also a great Team Leader option if you want to focus on a Critical Strike Hit/Damage build. After upgrading her bow twice, you’ll be able to one-shot all Zombies and make the early game significantly easier.
Best SWAT Build in Yet Another Zombie Survivors
Start with the Pistol and farm as many Zombies as possible. Your goal is to upgrade it quickly to the SMG, which is a great weapon for later in the run.
After upgrading to the SMG, spend some points on the Helicopter and the Grenade to help you with some AoE damage. While the Helicopter can be strong, it’s also extremely inconsistent as its path can end up being completely useless at times.
Thus, upgrade the Helicopter and the Grenade a bit but still prioritize SMG upgrades. Once you can get another squad member, both the Engineer and the Tank are great options.
The Tank uses a Shotgun and its abilities lower the HP of enemies to make it easy for the SWAT to finish them off with his SMG. The Engineer offers great AoE damage to help keep enemies away.
Also, after killing 5,000 Zombies with the SWAT you’ll be able to unlock an Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle upgrade, which will make killing zombies even easier.
Overall, the best squad so far that has helped me clear the first map is SWAT/Tank/Engineer. Even though I have unlocked the other characters, the three basic ones have everything you’ll need.

To sum up, the best Team Leader in Yet Another Zombie Survivors is the SWAT as he’s the most versatile of all characters and his weapons, abilities, and Leader perk are all helpful.
Focus on upgrading his weapon first and then spend a few points in the Helicopter and Grenade abilities until you can rescue the second character who should be the Engineer.
