Struggling with the music puzzle in Melody Bay, and the three Tadpole Pond Songs. In this guide, I will review all the puzzle solutions for Super Mario RPG.
There are four songs players can unlock while progressing through the story.
- Song 1: “Frog Sage’s Suite #18” is found by reading a poster on Frog Sage’s island.
- Song 2: “Moleville Blues” is found by talking to the miners in the Mole Mines.
- Song 3: “Monstro Town Melody” is found by talking to the Starslap in Monstro Town.
With each song obtained, you can go back to Toadofsky, and help him with his artist block. After giving him all three, he will ask the player to add the final phrase.
You can add whatever you want at that point. There are no wrong choices.
“Frog Sage’s Suite #18” Location and Tadpole Melody Solution
The first frog melody can be found behind Frogfucius, on a poster with an inspirational message.
Sounds. Laughter. Mirth. Reverly. Donuts. Reading. Dolphins. Relax. – A few notes on my latest tune.
The correct notes are So, La, Mi, Re, Do, Re, Do, Re. When you go back to Melody Bay, step on the rock, and once the tadpoles are in the right position jump on them.
To make the process easier I will name the lines from one to six. One is the top line where the tadpoles start, and six is the last one.
The first line is the black line between the two white ones and the last line is the second to last white line.
With the image as an example, you will want the tadpole locations to be as follows.
- 6
- 5
- 1

Once you jump in the correct combination, Toadofsky will reward you with the Alto Card. The Alto Card will unlock Frogleg Cola.
Frogleg Cola: Frogleg Cola recovers 80 HP for the whole party, and costs 42 gold coins.
This was the first Tadpole Pond Song puzzle solution for Super Mario RPG.
While exploring the world searching for the rest of the melodies you will come across Marrymore, so check out our guide on how to break down the Marrymore Church Door in Super Mario RPG.
“Moleville Blues” Location and Tadpole Melody Solution
The second song can be found after saving Dyna & Mite when adventuring to Moleville.
While sightseeing in Moleville you might want to see what secrets it hides, so check out our guide on where to find the Frying Pan for Super Mario RPG.
Going back into the mines toward where you fought Punchinello, you will see Pa-Mole and three workers. They will want to sing a song, and hidden in the lyrics are the notes to the Moleville blues song.
“Diggin’ deep in the “MI”nes~ “DO”n’t get much sun!~ I’m covered with “SO”il~ ’till my workday is “DO”ne~ I “RE”ally hate sittin’~ It’s “LA”bor I choose~ ’cause then’s the “TI”me~ To “DO” them old Moleville blues!~”
The correct notes are Mi, Do, So, Do, Re, La, Ti, Do. When you go back to Melody Bay, step on the rock, and once the tadpoles are in the right position jump on them.
The first line is the black line between the two white ones and the last line is the second to last white line.

Finless Cola: Finless Cola recovers 150 HP for the whole party, and costs 90 gold coins.
This was the second Tadpole Pond Song puzzle solution for Super Mario RPG.
“Monstro Town Melody” Location and Tadpole Melody Solution
The final song you will find is in Monstro Town, while searching for the Star Piece Monstermama tells you about their star, Starslap.
Once you go up to the second floor of Monstermama’s house, you will see it dancing on the furniture. Talk to it, watch it do its little dance, and voila, you have the final song for Toadofsky.
While in Monstro Town there are more things to see, so check out our guide on the Three Musty Fears flag locations for Super Mario RPG.
Understandably, you may be confused about where the notes actually are. I was too when I played the original, but thankfully for me, I had my big sister to help me.
As it was pointed out to me back then, I will point out to you that next to the Starslap, there is a music sheet showing where the notes should be located in Melody Bay.
When you go back to Melody Bay, step on the rock, and once the tadpoles are in the right position jump on them.
The first line is the black line between the two white ones and the last line is the second to last white line.

Once you jump in the correct combination, Toadofsky will reward you with the Soprano Card. The Soprano Card will unlock Croaka Cola or KeroKero Cola as it was known.
Croaka Cola: Croaka Cola fully restores the whole party’s HP and FP, and costs 200 gold coins.
This was the final Tadpole Pond Song puzzle solution for Super Mario RPG.
Note: When you complete all three melody puzzles, Toadofsky will ask you to complete the final phase of the song, so that you can all share credit since you helped him out so much. There are no wrong notes, so go wild.
