Jagged Alliance 3: Merc Relationships and Affinities [Full Guide]

It’s time to read about all the merc affinities in Jagged Alliance 3 so that you can easily plan up your squad set-ups to make sure that you don’t pair up mercenaries that can’t stand each other.

Teaming up your Mercs in Jagged Alliance 3 with other mercenaries they have an affinity for will grant you various bonuses. At the same time, putting together mercs that can’t stand each other will have negative effects.

This is a mechanic that was present in the previous games in the series and I am happy they kept it, including some of the relationships and affinities from the previous titles.

So if you want to make sure that the best mercs in Jagged Alliance 3 get various boosts by being teamed up with people they like (or at least that they don’t get any negative effects), you must read on about the merc relationships in the game.

Jagged Alliance 3: All Merc Liked & Disliked Characters

JA 3 veteran mercs

Let’s jump straight into all the relationships and affinities in JA3. I will list below each merc and their likes/dislikes.

If you won’t see a mercenary listed, it means that they neither like nor dislike any other characters. Good guys or gals! They’re definitely good mercenaries to start with, although their stats matter a lot too.

NOTE: I am still working to update the list with all the Legendary Mercs. With them being so expensive and difficult to test, it might take a while, but I will update this article as soon as I have the data.

If you can fill out the blanks and share the likes and dislikes of the Legendaries, I would appreciate it.

Jagged Alliance 3 merc relationships explained

ja 3 affinities

If you’re wondering what happens if you pair JA3 mercs that do have either a positive or a negative opinion about one another, here is what to know:

  • if one merc appreciates another in the team, they will get a morale bonus.
  • if one merc dislikes another one in the team, they will get lower morale (-1), might ask for extra money or, if they’re not already part of the team, might refuse to join you.

Therefore, keeping tabs on these relationships is a good idea and it helps you get some much needed bonuses to proceed easily through the game.

From the list above, based on the amount of other merc that like him, it’s pretty obvious that Grizzly is a great guy to have in the team and Fox a good gal (although there are a few who dislike her).

Also, the trio that I always had in previous games (Igor, Grunty & Ivan) would work really well too.

And if you need even more help, don’t hesitate to check out the previous article sharing all the top Jagged Alliance 3 tips and tricks you must know.

Final words

While there are definitely more important things in JA3 than rivalries or affinities between the mercs – like getting the right perks for your mercenaries – it’s good to try to aim and build a team of people that love working together.

It’s like in real life, after all: if you genuinely like your colleagues, you will do a better job – and you will feel miserable (or at least uncomfortable) otherwise.
