The Bing Bong is an optional, easter-egg like boss fight in How to Fish and it seems to exist just to test whether you have enough patience and ammunition to deal with it.
Today, I will tell you everything about the Bing Bong boss fight, how to summon it, how to defeat it and everything else you should know about this encounter where summoning is the actually difficult part. Let’s begin!
How to summon Bing Bong in How to Fish
First of all, you must be on Island 3 – this is where it resides. And it’s a great warm-up for the Pufferfish Boss Fight.
The main requirement to get it, apart from the regular fishing rod, is a special type of lure called Coconut Lure (which costs $350 and can only be obtained from a specific place on the island).
To get the Coconut Lure, apart from the money, you will need to get to a specific coconut tree. The tree is located in the center of the island and you can unlock the purchase option by standing at the base of the tree and jumping towards the coconut until the buy prompt appears.
Keep in mind that, just like with other bosses, one Coconut Lure summons the Bing Bong just once – so you have to get it right from your first try. Let’s see how!
How to Defeat Bing Bong in How to Fish
After getting the Coconut Lure and starting to fish, you will get this Easter Egg type of a boss.
It’s not a breeze through the fight, though: the character moves extremely fast, darting and bouncing through the area in a way that makes landing melee attacks extremely difficult. Even shots will miss, but it’s the better approach.
I recommend using the SMG for this fight, but the other weapons can have solid results. I don’t recommend using Dynamite though – better keep it for the actual boss fight of the island.
Now, because Bing Bong moves so quickly, the best strategy is to try and lure it inside the coconut trees area. This will slow it down a little bit and even block it every now and then so that you can land more shots.
Also, just like with other bosses, including the Giant Piranha Boss in How to Fish, you also need to be constantly on the move and keep your distance.
Bing Bong becomes easier to manage in co-op because you can divide the job between more players. The strategy here is simple: one player keeps kiting, while the other shoots the SMG constantly until Bing Bong is defeated.
Should You Care about Catching Bing Bong at All?
Bing Bong is a secret fish and an optional boss rather than something you need to defeat for a major gameplay reward and basically a bit Easter Egg for Peak fans.
You don’t have to unlock it or beat it, as there are no special rewards, achievements, or anything related to it. But it’s fun and prepares you for the real challenges ahead.
Plus, you’re probably a completionist like I am, and you’d like to have gone through everything in the game.
