Top 10 Best Food Items in Minecraft

Choosing the right food item in Minecraft can help a lot, especially if you are playing one of the more difficult game modes. And since not all food is created equally in the game, I am here to share the best food items in Minecraft.

Choosing the best one is somewhat difficult, because you don’t have to look just at how much hunger the item restores, but how easy it is to stack multiple items, as well as additional effects they might give you.

Plus, some are a lot easier to collect than others – and better choices as consumables. I am considering all these for the list below, so let’s jump right in!

10. Honey Bottle

A honey bottle is one of the most underappreciated foods in Minecraft. When consumed, it removes your toxic effects.

So, if you’re mining in the caverns and encounter cave spiders, you’ll have a way to get rid of the poison!

9. Sweet Berries

If you’re just getting started, I highly recommend starting with a berry farm! While they are not as full as the other foods on the list, they are readily available.

In just a few first evenings, you may create a vast berry farm! This will keep you alive for many of those first difficult nights!

8. Melon

Melons are another excellent crop to grow. While one slice might not fill you up very much, it is relatively easy to obtain! 3-7 slices make up one entire melon.

Melon is also used to make healing potions, thus having a melon farm should be a no-brainer.

7. Baked Potatoes

Baked potatoes have to be one of the best early starting Minecraft foods. While they may not provide as many hunger or saturation points as other foods in-game, their reachability makes them a good food source.

Look for them in chests in railway dungeons and you’ll be good to go for the rest of your game! Also, a Potato farm is the easiest in the world to maintain.

6. Cooked Chicken

For good reason, chicken is one of the best foods in Minecraft. While it isn’t the best for filling your hunger and saturation bars, what makes it so great is that it is completely automatic and easy.

You can find chicken literally everywhere and making a chicken farm is the easiest thing ever. Just smash those eggs and walla! – Instant food!

5. Cooked Mutton

Cooked mutton is another meat we’ll discuss. It’s not the best meat to eat because it’s not particularly filling, but it’s also not the worst.

If you don’t have a completely automated chicken farm, eat mutton first. This is because it provides you with more saturation points than chicken.

4. Cooked Porkchops

Porkchops are the second finest meat to acquire! This is mostly due to the numbers, but it is also owing to the fact that pigs are extremely frequent to obtain.

In addition, a pig can have one to four pork chops. So pork chops are an excellent choice for every player out there!

1. Golden Apple

Another pricey food item in the game is the Golden Apple. While it may not fill your stomach as much, it does provide some wonderful benefits!

The classic golden apple has both regeneration and absorption properties. It will provide you with two extra hearts for 2 minutes.

While it is expensive, you should definitely consider having some around (ideally enchanted golden apples), especially when battling bosses or for challenging situations.
