Tactics Ogre Reborn: How to Recruit Ozma

Ozma Moh Gladius is a former commander from Galius known for her ability to wield both spell and blade with equal skill.

Ozma can be a valuable asset to any team, due to her solid speed, amazing damage, and combination of ranged and melee options for attacks. Due to those, she is considered one of the strongest characters in the game.

Also, contrary to other characters such as Cressida, Ozma is fairly easy to recruit.

In this guide, I will explain how to recruit Ozma in Tactics Ogre Reborn by showcasing all steps to follow.

Step 1: Follow the Lawful Path and Recruit Hobyrim

To eventually recruit Ozma, it is essential to choose the Law path during Chapter 1. This is done by obeying the duke and razing Balmamusa at the finale of the first chapter.

Then, during Chapter 3, at the battle against Ozma at the Rhine, you’ll need to keep Hobyrim alive until the end and recruit him in the cutscene afterward.

Step 2: Read the Talk Topic ‘A Rift in Dark Knights’

When you start Chapter 4, make sure to check the Warren Report for the talk topic ‘A Rift in Dark Knights’.

It is essential to complete this step before progressing through the story battle at Mount Hedon.

Step 3: Complete the Battle at Hagia Banhamuba and Have 50 Loyalty on Hobyrim

For this step, you’ll need to make sure that Hobyrim has over 50 loyalty before completing the battle against Sherri at Hagia Balmamusa.

To check Hobyrim’s loyalty, open the party menu and use the help button on his details to see the displayed message. Based on the message, you can understand Hobyrim’s loyalty level.

Here are all the possible messages and their respective loyalty.

  • 100-81 Loyalty – This unit supports you in all things. A loyal ally to the end.
  • 80-61 Loyalty – This unit speaks on your behalf to win others to your side.
  • 60-41 Loyalty – More often than not, this unit speaks in support of your decisions.
  • 40-31 Loyalty – Though not openly discontent, this unit is often at odds with your decisions.
  • 30-21 Loyalty – Of late, this unit has grown more vocal in criticizing your decisions.
  • 20-11 Loyalty – It’s not uncommon to find this unit defying you openly in front of others.
  • 10-0 Loyalty – This unit has lost all faith in you and can scarcely look you in the eyes while talking.

Based on that, you want to aim for either of the first two messages.

To raise Hobyrim’s loyalty focus on increasing his skill ranks while also recruiting Lodisian enemies found in story battles.

Final Step: Recruit Ozma at the Battle of Krysaro

With every pre-requisite completed, you’ll now be able to access the battle of Krysaro, one of the hardest battles in the game.

Make sure to deploy Hobyrim and select the “Yes… I am Hobyrim” dialogue option at the start of the battle.

Your objective is simple but hard: Defeat everyone except Ozma, who needs to stay alive at a low HP (less than 10%).

Focus on Volaq and his healers, while also making sure you have enough healing yourself to survive their attacks.

After defeating everyone and leaving only Ozma on low HP, you will be able to recruit her.
