Star Wars Battlefront II Multiplayer Beta Coming October

Calling all Stormtroopers! Not that we’re poking fun at your aiming abilities – we just wanted to let you know that the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II is getting a multiplayer beta! The beta will open for early access on October 4 for those who pre-order the game, and will open to everyone two days later on October 6. The beta will be available on all current platforms – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC/Origin. The beta will end on October 9.

The multiplayer beta will show off two parts. The first is a “Galactic Assault” match on the famous Star Wars planet Naboo. In a wild firefight surrounding the royal palace, you’ll join either the Republic clone troopers or Separatist battle droids and fight it out until only one side remains. Galactic Assault is the standard multiplayer match with up to 40 players! You’ll face off as different classes, take control of ships and vehicles from the Star Wars universe, and of course play as legendary heroes and villains.

The second part is the “Starfighter Assault” mode. In this mode players will recreate the famous space battles the series is known for. There’s no ground combat – it’s just you and your trusty ship! Players will engage in fast and frantic dogfights and launch team attacks on massive capital ships like Star Destroyers. More details will be revealed at Gamescom this year, which August 23-26.

In addition to getting early beta access, pre-ordering the game will net you bonus content including Yoda’s Epic Lightsaber Mastery Star Card. We’re not quite sure what that jumble means, but anything Yoda-related is pretty cool in our books! Now, we’re sure many fans of the series were burned from the first Battlefront. Hopefully this beta test will win back players because the first game seems to have died out pretty fast. Let’s hope DICE and EA get it right this time because we’re all dying for a new, epic Star Wars Battlefront game.
