Just like the wide variety of monsters, there are also endless options when it comes to abilities in Splinterlands.
The abilities are either already integrated into the monsters or earned as you level up. Some monsters have only one ability while the stronger and more powerful ones can have multiple abilities.
There are a total of 55 different abilities that you’ll come across. But, which abilities in Splinterlands are the best abilities in the game?
Best Abilities in Splinterlands
The list of best abilities in the game may spark a debate in the Splinter community as it varies a lot from one person to another.
Some may like a certain ability since it fits their team, while others may absolutely hate an ability because it didn’t work out for them.
However, there are a few abilities in the game, which are just incomparable to all the other abilities; these are just too good!
Characters that have those abilities are easily in the top tier and will give you a significant advantage over your opponents. So, what are those abilities?
Blast
Inflicting damage to additional monsters apart from the target monster can be extremely powerful in eliminating enemy teams faster; Blast does exactly that.
Along with full damage dealt on the target monster, the next monster in line will also take half of that damage and reduce in health.
This is a game changer in the sense that, the adjacent monster already has its health reduced and a proper attack from your next unit can take it out without any trouble!
The ability is available in lots of monster cards as well – Pyromaniac, Fire Demon, Goblin Tower, and Gold Dragon to name a few.
Double Strike
Double Strike is the first top tier ability in my list. The fact that your monster will deal double the damage than usual in each round is insane and will definitely play a part in taking out enemy monsters faster.
The Silvershield Assassin and Silvershield Archers cards come with this ability, as well as Grund and the Vigilator.
Halving
Halving has an added effect on the enemy monster apart from reduced HP – reduced attacking threat.
Once the targeted enemy unit is hit, its health will drop and the damage dealt by the enemy monster will be halved too. So, you’re sort of killing two birds with one stone! Halfing Alchemist comes with this amazing ability.
Heal
Present in a considerable number of monster cards, Heal is an excellent ability that lengthens the time they can survive.
After each round, there’s an increase in HP for monsters that have this ability, regardless of the damage taken in the previous round.
If significant damage has been caused, full health may not be restored, but it’s still good enough to put up a fight. The Elemental monsters in Fire and Water Splinter as well as Flesh Golem and Hydra own this ability.
Inspire
The Inspire ability has more of an effect of the Summoner cards, as it boosts the Melee attack of each and every Monster in your team by +1. A boost throughout the team can make a huge difference.
Inspire ability can be found in only a few Monster cards, such as the Evangelist and Silvershield Knight.
Demoralize is a very similar ability to Inspire but it reduces the Melee attack of the enemy monsters. Both are quite strong but Demoralize would be useless if the opponent had no Melee-attack monsters. That’s why, Inspire edges it for me!
Last Stand
The Last Stand ability gives one last chance of redemption during the battles. If you’ve been toe to toe with the enemy, the Last Stand will give you that extra notch at the end of the battle and grab you win.
This ability amps up the health and damage levels of the Monster, if it’s the last one alive in your team. As you can probably tell, these monsters should be positioned towards the end of your team.
Diamond Dragon and Efreet Elder are capable of using this ability.
Silence
Magic Attacks are quite overpowered and immune to some defensive measures. In this case, the Silence ability will come in handy.
Having a character with the Silence ability in your team will help to tone down the Magic Attack stats of all the enemy monsters.
Since these attacks are more of the Meta in both beginner leagues and professional tournaments, Silence can be a deadly ability to have.
Sporcerer, Goblin Psychic, and Warrior of Peace are the characters capable of giving you the edge with Silence.
Taunt
I’ll definitely rate Taunt in the list of the best abilities in Splinterlands. Taunt is a key ability for the monsters Shieldbearer and Magnor. As you can see, it’s available for the Tank monsters.
The ability basically redirects the attacks of enemy monsters onto these Tank monsters. How is it useful? Enemy units with Opportunity ability can easily sweep out the low-HP monsters in your team.
But, due to Taunt, you wouldn’t have to worry about that now, since the attacks will now be targeted onto the character with this ability. Since the character already has a large HP level, it won’t die too easily either.
A few other notable mentions I want to make in the list of best abilities in Splinterlands are Tank Heal, Trample, Stun, Swiftness, and Snipe.
Wrapping Up
All the abilities in the game come with a boost in a certain feature or stat. However, the abilities mentioned above improve the stats of the respective characters at an insane level and almost makes them overpowered!
These abilities are the ones to keep an eye out for and if your monster needs levelling up in order to unlock the ability, put in the grind and get it!
