Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Defeat Fire Crew Leader Mela

Progressing the Starfall Street Path in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet requires defeating Team Star bosses, including Fire Crew Leader Mela.

When trying to defeat Mela, there are some factors to keep in mind including Pokemon level and type.

In this guide, I will explain where to find Fire Crew Leader Mela and show you how to defeat both her and the nearby Team Star grunts.

Team Star’s Fire Crew Base Location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Team Star’s Fire Crew base is located on the east side of the map. Specifically, it can be found right above the city of Artazon.

To get there, simply follow the main path from the Artazon (East) teleport point.

Before getting there, make sure to bring your three strongest Pokemon with you and have them healed up. When approaching the base, you’ll get a cutscene where you fight the first grunt.

They only have a Lv. 25 Houndour and as long as you’ve got a Water, Ground, Rock, or Fighting type with you everything should be fine.

Team Star’s Fire Crew Base Main Challenge – Star Barrage

Quick combat challenge in Team Star’s Fire Crew Base.

For the next part, after entering the base, you’ll have to use your first three Pokemon to defeat 30 of Team Star’s Pokemon within 10 minutes via quick combat.

For this phase, Pokemon type doesn’t matter. As long as your Pokemon out-level the enemy ones by a few levels, they should one-shot them in quick combat regardless of type.

If your Pokemon are struggling in this phase, I would recommend pressing ‘Y’ to give up for now and come back later when you’re a bit higher level. This is because the next phase is going to be even harder.

How to defeat Schedar Starmobile (Revavroom) in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

For the last part of this challenge, players are called to defeat Mela in a Pokemon Battle.

Mela has the following two Pokemon in this encounter.

  • Torkoal – Level 27, Fire-type
  • Schedar Starmobile (Revavroom) – Level 26, Fire-type

For this challenge, it’s helpful to bring any Water, Ground, or Rock-type Pokemon and moves. Especially Revavroom is much harder to beat than its level suggests.

For instance, a great choice would be the Water-type starter, Quaxly. In case you chose a different starter, don’t worry! Check out our guide on how to get all starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with ease.

Team Star’s Fire Crew Base Rewards

While it can be tricky to complete this challenge, the rewards are well worth the effort.

Specifically, after defeating Mela, trainers are awarded the following items.

  • Flame Charge (TM038) – A great move for every Fire-type Pokemon
  • 6.000 LP – The amount of LP varies based on how many bases you’ve completed so far. If this is your second base, the reward is 6.000 LP.
  • New TM recipes and materials – Similar to other bases, you’ll be able to use new materials and craft new TMs afterward.

And that’s all. Now you know everything needed to challenge Team Star’s Fire Crew base and defeat Fire Crew Mela.

As long as your Pokemon have high-enough levels and pack some Water, Ground, or Rock-type moves, you should be able to complete this challenge without hassle.

With this challenge completed, it’s a great opportunity to focus on some of the other essential mechanics in the game.

For instance, the day/night cycle is an important feature that affects various gameplay elements. Mastering it can make exploring Paldea more interesting.
