Mortal Kombat Onslaught Tier List – Best Fighters in the Game

Last updated: October 19th, 2023.

Choosing the best characters in Mortal Kombat Onslaught is not an easy job, with over 70 available to choose from and so many options.

But today’s MK Onslaught tier list will do just that, ranking the best and worst characters in the game, so that you know exactly on which ones to focus for building a perfect team.

The absolute best characters are those starting at 5 stars natively like Undying Shao Kahn, Revenant Kitana, Arctika Sub Zero and so on. But there are many other things to consider and ranking them was not easy.

But it had to be done, so without further ado, here is the tier list for Mortal Kombat Onslaught. Updated constantly!

We’re going to list the best characters in Mortal Kombat Onslaught into four tiers. You might be familiar with these, but here’s a quick recap of what each tier means:

  • Tier S: The absolute best characters in the game
  • Tier A: Very good characters in the game
  • Tier B: Decent characters, but secondary at best
  • Tier C: Characters that are more or less useless

So let’s get it started!

Mortal Kombat Onslaught Tier S Characters (Best in the Game)

arctika sub zero

These are the absolute best characters in the game. If possible, create your starting 4 based on this list. If not, have as many as possible in your main starting squad.

  • Undying Shao Kahn
  • Revenant Kitana
  • Arctika Sub Zero
  • Goro
  • Razor Hat Kung Lao
  • Deadeye Erron Black
  • Fire God Liu Kang
  • Sindel (for Arena fights mainly)

Now, let’s get a bit more in depth and see the skills and abilities that make the fighters above the absolute best in the game.

Undying Shao Kahn – Best Tank in the Game

He’s literally a punching bag thanks to his Dragon Scales of ability which applies taunt, increases defense based on the ATK of enemies around him and reflects damage too. INSANE!

Revenant Kitana

Great character that teleports close to an enemy and deals massive damage, also stealing Special Meter fill-up from the enemy she’s attacking, basically disallowing them to cast their ability.

Arctika Sub Zero

Despite having a relatively low starting ATK, he has an amazing ability that causes AoE damage, which gets better as the skill levels up, ending up with various debuffs and frozen effects,

Another tanky character that I really like in MK Onslaught, and I am sure you will like him too.

When his Special Ability activates, he deals massive AoE damage and burns enemies for a while.

Razor Hat Kung Lao

Amazing damage dealer, similar to Kitana. He teleports close to an enemy and swings his hat which causes massive damage, but then ricochets to other enemies, causing additional damage. Great for crowd control!

Deadeye Erron Black

Deadeye Erron Black

An interesting support character that, I have to admit, I wasn’t a big fan of early on. But he shoots at enemies and marks them to get more damage, which is extremely useful.

Fire God Liu Kang

fire god Liu Kang

There are a bit too many defenders on this list, but it’s just how it ended up… either way, Fire God Liu Kang is a really good Defender type character, with a great ability, dealing massive AoE damage and then gaining Taunt.

The only 4-star fighter that I am including in Mortal Kombat Onslaught’s Tier S. But she’s perfect for Arena fights and for dealing tons of damage.

Her special ability, Shattered will, causes massive damage to the enemies and, most importantly, makes them unhealable. This is a great advantage, especially if you have a solid damage dealer – like Kitana or Kung Lao – paired up with her to finish the job.

Ranking the best characters in popular games is difficult, but a thing that has to be done. If you want to see more rankings, make sure to check out our previous tier lists below:

Mortal Kombat Onslaught Tier A Characters

Cyber Smoke

These are also great characters, and perfect for your starting line-up if you need to meet specific requests in the story mode (or if you haven’t been able to unlock the best ones above).

  • Wind God Fujin
  • Raiden (very good in Story mode!)
  • Shao Kahn
  • Shang Tsung
  • Quan Chi
  • Noob Saibot
  • Scorpion
  • Tanya
  • Cyber Smoke
  • Cyrax
  • Hellfire Scorpion

If you are playing MKO, you are most likely enjoying Mortal Kombat 1 too. If so, make sure to check out my guide on how to unlock all fatalities in MK1, as well as a quick guide to flipping out in Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat Onslaught Tier B Characters

Noob Saibot

These characters might be good in specific situations, but I wouldn’t really consider them my main focus. Things might change in the future, but for now, they’re not great!

  • Erron Black
  • Skarlet
  • Jade
  • Johnny Cage
  • Kitana
  • Kung Lao
  • Fire Support Jax
  • Camouflage Sonya Blade
  • Frost
  • Fujin
  • Cryomancer Lin Kuei
  • Firestarter Black Dragon
  • Jax
  • Kano

Mortal Kombat Onslaught C Characters

These are the worst characters in the game at the moment. You will most definitely have better options for your team.

  • Mileena
  • Nightwolf
  • Baraka (might get more useful in the future though, as he boosts Tarkatans)
  • Brute Tarkatan Warrior
  • Mending Spirit
  • Deadly Spirit
  • Guardian Spirit
  • Sonya Blade
  • Medic Special Forces
  • Sergeant Special Forces
  • Sniper Black Dragon
  • Elite Guard Shao Soldier
  • Royal Guard Shokan Warrior
  • Blademistress Shokan Warrior
  • Master Shaolin Monk

As you can see – and as expected – the best characters in Mortal Kombat Onslaught are those that natively start at 5 stars. There are also some really good 4-star ones in the game.

With so many fighters to choose from, though, and so many potential combinations, it’s difficult to signal out the best and the worst. So, depending on what you draw, you might have slightly better success than I did with some of the characters.

If that is the case, I would love to hear your thoughts. So let us all know who are, in your opinion, the best and worst fighters in MKO, and why you like your favorites so much.
