Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Get Dream Shards and Night Shards

There are several valuable yet mysterious items in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which include the Dream Shards and the Night Shards. But, how do you get them?

Dream Shards and Night Shards aren’t too difficult to collect once you’ve got the hang of the process, but it can be quite time-consuming. In this article, I’ll provide a well-guided explanation on how to get Dream shards and Night shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

These will come in handy as you progress through the game and are quite useful in various quests and interactions.

Let’s jump right into it!

How to get Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The key source of Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley are the Night Thorns, which are readily available.

After you’ve progressed to a decent level in the game, for example, successfully finishing Merlin’s quest and the Orb of Friendship, removing the Night Thorns will do wonders for you!

You need to remove the Night Thorns to collect the Dream Shards.

Firstly, go near the Night Thorns. Interacting with these will cause a magical animation to take place and instantly clear the area, rewarding you Star Coins and possibly, Dream Shards.

Sadly, the probability of obtaining Dream Shards from this activity isn’t very high. You’ll have to keep your patience and get rid of as many Night Thorns as you can find.

If you’re lucky enough, you might just get the Dream Shards at a faster rate.

Another method of collecting Dream Shards is to feed animals.

Feeding Rabbit

Once you feed certain animals, like the rabbit, its preferred food, carrot, it gifts you random items in return. If your luck strikes, you might just receive Dream Shards.

While the probabilities of getting Dream Shards through these methods are low, repeating them both can help you increase the number of Dream Shards.

What are Dream Shards used for?

Dreamlight and Purified Night Shard

The primary use of Dream Shards is to make Dreamlights. You can craft 10 Dreamlights using 250 Dream Shards in any crafting station.

These Dreamlights are then required in various quests, exploring Realms and unlocking zones.

Steadily increasing the number of Dream Shards and crafting them into Dreamlight when required is a smart strategy that you can follow as you progress through the game.

Night Shard

Night Shards are another unique feature of the Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To find these Night Shards, look for crevices on the ground which sparkle when you go near them. These crevices are the most likely to contain Night Shards.

Take out your shovel and start digging out the crevice. Along with other items, you should also receive one Night Shard.

These crevices can be found all around the map; so, obtaining Night Shards is faster than Dream Shards.

What are Night Shards used for?

So far in the game, the only use for Night Shards have been to create Purified Night Shard, which also requires some Dream Shards to be crafted.

These Purified Night Shards are given as gifts to your friends in the game, such as Goofy.

I’d suggest holding on to these Night Shards and not spending them away on Purified Night Shards, unless necessary.

Further updates may involve the use of Night Shards, so having a large number of this item can put you at an advantageous position.

Wrapping Up

Dream Shards and Night Shards are attractive and quite valuable items. I’d go as far as increasing my storage space so that I can store more of these items, especially the Dream Shards.

Holding on to these items and not spending them away quickly might be helpful for future quests and missions.
