“This party’s getting crazy! Let’s rock!”
And with that, Dante’s legendary character was established. Devil May Cry was an important series in gaming history as it was the founding game for the “stylish action” genre. You know games like Bayonetta (DMC’s spirital successor), NieR: Automata, Ninja Gaiden, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance? Those kinds of games!
Well, if you’ve never tried any of the Devil May Cry games you’ll get your chance soon enough. The previously released Devil May Cry HD Collection is now being ported to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The original release came out in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and now it’s coming to modern consoles.
The collection will feature the special vault that contains concept artwork and other behind-the-scenes goodies. The games will also retain their 60 FPS status, but it looks like the graphics have just been upscaled, so overall this is a straight port of the 2012 release. Still though, if you’re fan of fast-paced action games like PlatinumGames’ projects, we highly recommend you check out Devil May Cry to see where the genre was established.
Devil May Cry follows the story of Dante, a half-human half-demon hybrid. After losing his mother to demons, Dante becomes a demon hunting mercenary under a business called Devil May Cry. With a ton of cocky attitude, Dante’s got more than enough skill to back up his words.
Players can use both melee sword attacks and ranged gun attacks to combo demons into nothingness all the while looking super cool the whole time. The game even encourages you to do cool stuff too! While you’re graded on typical things like damage taken and how fast you cleared the demons, you’re also scored on how stylish your combat looked. So don’t skimp on the coolness factor!
As an added bonus, if you’re a Twitch Prime member you’ll receive the first game in the collection for free under your Twitch account. Visit the Twitch.tv home page to link your account if you haven’t yet!
