Yeah, you’ve all probably heard the news by now as every blogger seems to be keying up on this one.
Looks like we can now take down our bullshit shields. You know, the only surprising thing in this whole story is that the leaked information from that German site was RIGHT. That almost never happens with Blizzard and their game announcements…so WTF? Add to that, Tobold was on the money….well done sir.
So the feature list of this one? Well, really a cup and paste job of TBC, but this time with snow:
Level Cap: 80
Skill Cap: 450
Continent: Northrend
Number of Zones: 10 (tentatively), for levels 68 and above
Profession: Inscription
Class: Death Knight (first-ever Hero Class)
Features: Outdoor PVP zone with siege weapons and destructible buildings.
This just won’t do in the face of what is coming down the pipe for next year for MMOs, and I’m talking specifically about Warhammer. Blizzard has a really good formula for putting out games, no doubt, but this? This is not what I expected out of them for their second expansion.
I honestly expected to resub after seeing the list this weekend. After seeing all of the new stuff they are bringing in, I would have gladly brought my character up to 70 and get ready for Northrend. Dollars to doughnuts that the attunement will be insane, all content will be high level and the PvP will still be like being in an honor blender.
Sooo…unless they’re hiding something really amazing, I guess my WoW days are done.
Not amused…not amused at all.
D out.

Diddo. To me, with stuff coming out on the horizon, they really needed to take the game in a direction away from raiding. At least for my attention. Call me done as well.

On a side note, this affirms that the guys making content for EQ2 these days are head and shoulders above Blizzard employees.
I’m sorry, but Blizzard is now a politician. They play it so safe with what they put out there, so trying not to displease anyone, that they end up turning away their most loyal supporters due to inaction.
Bleh. Bleh, indeed.

I completely agree with all of the comments so far. The sony team puts out content out 10X quicker and better quality… I’m still getting over GU37 for EQ2. For a game that has such a massive team they just can’t keep the content coming in. I am so underwhelmed by this expansion. Whats worse is this expansion would be decent if it at least came out in the next 3 – 4 months, but no it will probably be at least a year away… count me done as well.

I will end up leveling to 70 while waiting for a MMO to play. Mind you I was going to do that feature on EQ2 once I was back from my honey moon. So only time will tell. These announcements do not make me go “Ooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaah”. It makes me go “Bleh”. Mind you the majority of the MMOs coming out make me go bleh. I hope the communities in the up coming games are better in the new games or im going to go mental. With the current state of grind grind grind. Join guild to raid. Install expansion. grind grind grind again. Gahh. I have a lot to rant about on the constant grind for some “uber lootz”.

Tom, PotBS. All I can say. If you’re into true meaningful PvP, that is.
Anyway… @Darren
This is what you do while at work dying to leave in order to go home and… type more comments on blogs. What the hell is wrong with me?

You must have overlooked the info about new hairstyles and dances. So as you slog your way through STV for the umpteenth time, just dance, dance, dance.
/sarcasm
I am so sad. Thanks Blizzard.

Got to say Darren I am in agreement with you. WoW is now dead to me also. COH will be my resting place till something in my opinion better drops.
They better drop something better then that trailer this weekend. I made a post about it on my blog. Don’t visit I am taking cuppy’s advice and building it slowly. (That is that sorta “DON”T touch the red button” phrase.)
@Blido even though I no longer play eq2 I have to say I enjoyed my time there immensely. For some reason I keep a close eye on that game. The devs there are doing an amazing job.
@Link god that was funny nearly spit my coke out.

Well it is supposed to have siege weapons and destructible structures, no? (sort of like DAoC had and Age of Conan is supposed to have)

Honestly, what else could you expect? Whether Blizz internally would like to go beyond the current scope of WoW or not, the game is simply too big to do so. They’re trapped in an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” situation where they have no choice but to continue with their current methodology, or risk losing customers for changing the game.
