Short and final post on GDC 2010

So, I’m back to work this morning and the usual “I’d rather be in SF” blues are hitting me :) . Oh well…it shall pass.

Some of the highlights I took back:
- Alcatraz is not the party spot you’d think it is.
- Although GDC 2010 seemed smaller, apparently is wasn’t.
- “Social” is the new shizzle this year. Next year, who knows what they’ll grab onto.
- Tera Looks really good, but do we really need another Korean import that makes Darren grumpy?
- Kids looking for a job actually looked like they were looking for a job.
- I need a new pair of shoes.
- The Independent Games Festival needs it’s own venue.
- The amount of beautiful women in SF can make one very dizzy.
- Having a big giant cage for gamers to walk around in while playing an FPS isn’t always the best idea.
- Zombrex vaccinations were brilliant…

Oh…and head on over to John’s to see his impressions on GDC 2010. Some good pics of “the gang” there as well.

    The expo floor/job floor area was definitely physically smaller than last year, so you should define what you mean by “smaller.” Subjectively, the place seemed quite crowded, but it would be hard to say if that was more people or less space causing it. I guess attendance was up according to the official count though.

    Was there anything from CCP? I saw they were supposed to have a booth, but I did not hear much about them. Also, are Icelanders more Canadian-like, or Norwegian-esque? :)

    Not much from CCP …at least nothing that we haven’t heard before.

    …Icelanders are in a category all their own ;)

    CCP was more in recruiting mode rather than showing off mode. Or so it seemed to me. Since they combined the recruiting and display floors, it could be hard to tell. Blizzard was quite clearly recruiting only, but in other booths it was not so clear.
