Non-Gaming: The Politics of Sex

I just finished watching Tiger Woods’ apology, and it is quite the commentary on our own little world here in North America, ain’t it? Personally, I have to take Tiger at his word, as he did sound quite genuine in his apology to the public….whether or not he gets it back together with the real victim here (…his family…) is another question. FYI…have you seen his wife? Seriously…what the hell Tiger?

“He needs therapy”, is the current saying. No…not really. “He’s addicted to sex”…suuuure…and we’re all “addicted to breathing” too I guess. You can’t be addicted to a natural function of human biology…and sex is as natural as they come. What we have here is a hyper-alpha-male (aka…the douche-bag…) doing what what he does best: finding women and tapping them. Bill Clinton, Brad Pitt, Hugh Grant…all of them, just being what nature made them. What really surprises me is that we are still surprised by politician, celebrities, preachers cheating. I sort of expect it. I will probably never understand why we expect public figures to be more than human.

With Tiger, I think it might be a little deeper than just a typical alpha male pattern. Even though he wife is just gorgeous…clearly…he was away from home way too much and had way too many options made available. And who knows…maybe there was trouble in the marriage to begin with and he was just finding love somewhere else.

Regardless…I wish him and his family the best and I hope to see him on the golf course soon. He is quite the talent in that respect.

Reminds me of a poster from years ago with a scantily clad babe. The tagline read “No matter how hot she is, somewhere, some guy is sick and tired of her shit.”

It’s yet another thing that gets entirely too much media attention. I can only surmise that at this point he’s just trying to save his relationship with his wife and sponsors. The irony is that I think 90% of males simply don’t give a shit and secretly wish they could tap ass like that as well. And fully 50% of that 90% have wives and girlfriends, so they can speak up and tell them to shut the fuck up about it.

Luckily, my wife doesn’t read your blog…

What got me was the photo of him in front of the people assembled to listen to him give his apology, all so serious as if the weight of the world hung on this momentous occasion … of a guy who cheated on his wife who happens to hit little balls into a hole for a living. Front page around the world, ‘Tiger says he’s sorry.’ What did they think that he was going to say? That he had a really good time and that he’d do it again if he could??

The only “abusive” in Tigers behavior is that he abused his family by doing what he did. Power corrupts, always have, always will. And money is power, these days. So is being a star.

Hes a robot in public. Nothing about that apology seemed genuine. I think I would have to agree with Bill Simmon’s take on the apology. To stand up there and read a prepared statement without taking any questions is gutless. The only thing he is sorry about is getting caught and taking a nine-iron to the face.
